Barbel a Lifetimes Addiction -Trefor West

With this many people all having the same problem it beggars the question whether the goods supplied are fit for purpose.
Without having a go at tw as clearly it is the publishers issue surely this should have been sorted by them

I would have thought it was the book binders fault, but whether the publishers hire them I have no idea.

Anyway, google "glue for book spines" and a lot of info comes up. One is a step by step guide for fixing these problems, not the easiest to follow but possible. The one glue that keeps popping up is PVA, apparently available from art shops.

PVA glue is available in just about any DIY shop, supermarket etc. If you look at glues of various makes intended for glueing wood for instance, that is invariably PVA glue...it comes under many guises. Some of it is waterproof...some is not. That may have been the problem here.

To be fair to LA, they are describing these books as damaged goods on the sales page, and pricing them as such....I don't think anyone can have any complaint. Unless of course they bought their copy at the original price before the problem came to light :D

I have ordered a copy because at that price they must be worth having, even if they do require working on...it is apparently an excellent read after all.

Cheers, Dave.

Ordered mine to David. Can't go wrong for a fiver, but the postage is a kick in the nuts.
But like ya say, damn good read on the coming clod wet winter neets.

I am very tempted to have one of these but could someone please weigh it as the weight to me is very important considering it has to be held at arms length for protracted periods of time ;)

I thought it was just me being rough.
Mine fell apart while reading the first time.
I bought the book from TW when it was quite new at one of his roadshows

I believe the type required for book repairs has to be purchased at an art shop Dave. I had similar thoughts t you so I guess there must be different types. I must say I am tempted just to send mine to a book repairer.

If you intend to take it fishing Simon, you will not be able to take the LA pole as well, especially if you intend covering 50 or so miles of river :)

It's all the camera gear he carries that's the problem Alex. I think he carries all his gear in a super sized hod though...screwed onto the LA pole :D

Cheers, Dave.

I really wish you two would pack it in and stop being so flippant about what is a fairly serious issue  You try sitting on the Kharzi for half an hour with yours arms stretched out in front of you and then come back and tell me the extra ounces don't matter. Rant over !!

Simon, if the kharzi get's blocked as a result of your problem, you have to hand a pole eminently suitable for sorting it out. Not only that...by the time you have wiped your backside on all the pages that fall out of the book every time you are incarcerated, pretty soon that won't weigh as much anyway....problems sorted :D

Cheers, Dave.
