Avon/quiver twin top rods

Afternoon chaps, am after some advice or feedback on avon/quiver twin top rods. Am looking to buy a pair of 1.25lb tc for clubbing and perch work. Any views in the following or other suggestions:
- greys prodigy tlx 12ft 1.25lb twin top
- tackle box / Darren's Valley 11ft 1.25lb avon/quiver
- latest drennan specialist 1.25lb twin tops

Ta, George

One you should add to your list are the Angling Direct Advanta 11ft 1.25lb rods twin tip quiver section. 0.5oz, 1oz and 2oz. Sic type rings anti frap tip lovely rods have a pair myself. Greys pricey, Drennan nice blanks pity they put cheap rings on them. Rather have a proper single leg ring than the quiver / fly rings they use lets the rod down. My opinion anyway.

I have a pair of the Darent Valley rods, also one of their 0.75TC specialist, all excellent value rods and quite capable of punching "above their weight". I've had tench and barbel to just under 8lbs on the Avons, also 6lb barbel and 9lb pike on the lighter rod without feeling undergunned.

I’d drop down to a 1lb TC for perch, I was using a 1.25lb series 7 Avon and suffered from hook pulls. Changed to the more recent 1lb drennan specialists and landed significantly more fish.

Had completely forgotten about the John wilson rods so great 👍 call. Was the avon deluxe the one with or without a dolly section as I'd rather one without?

I'd stay away from the Tackle Box avon (1:25tc 11ft) it is an awful rod with a horrible flat spot ridden action. The quiver tips section is even worse.

Id try and get an Old John Wilson.

The one with the dolly butt extension is called JW Avon quiver system. They were made by Masterline and have the grey coloured blank. I also have an earlier version on the green blank (without the dolly) and it’s a better rod in my humble opinion.

The Rovex John Wilson Avon Quiver Deluxe is the model I have. It has a green blank and comes with a dolly section to make up to 13 foot. Full cork handle. I have three, they are also my rods of choice for still water Roach.
