Arguments Please

Basically I'm like a kid at Christmas as its my first Barbel season so I've purchased a Free Spirit Seeker 12ft 1.75lb and a Harrison Torrix 11ft 1.75lb as I believe they are both decent so which will I prefer ........ the two big differences I have noticed already is the size of the eyes and the reel seats ( but I do think they maybe the same) I'm a novice to the world of Barbel so please argue either way 🤣
I have read old threads and I believe Harrison has more followers also due to fishing the Dee after Boris I swapped my other Seeker for the Torrix as the Dee is a narrow river where I will be fishing so I wanted to cover all basis and I know alot of people aren't a fan of fishing with 2 types of different rods but for me it just made sense as I can decide for myself

I can't even see a 5 minute Python argument there ... IMO you won't even notice the difference in the reel seats or the size of the butt rings (steady!) when you're actually fishing. But you will notice quite a difference in the action of the rods (which might throw you a bit, re. casting/playing fish). The F/S is more progressive in action than the Torrix, and, being a foot longer, this will only add to that 'difference'. It's a strange mix IMO, but then some folks enjoy bacon with jam on 🤣.

I don’t believe that’s a seeker anyway so I wouldn’t know what if any differences are between them as I’ve not used the spirit specialist before

Asking on here the differences and arguments for and against when they are literally in your hands doesn’t make sense to me.

Go out and try them.
Pull on them. Waggle them.
Put reels on them.

You’ll soon work out for yourself which is best for what and why etc

Cheers for all your comments and I didn't realise about the barbel specialist and not a seeker so I will sell that on I think at a discounted price 👍

Why not chill out and go use it - it might fit your style of fishing perfectly ?
I completely get the excitement and anticipation but I would suggest pace yourself and be realistic - opening week can be a real anti- climax on a lot of rivers if it’s all about getting your string pulled.
Enjoy what you’ve got ( and you seem to have some lovely kit) and soak it all in - a new season full of occasions for hope but tempered with grinding blanks
Good luck 🤞

Hi Neil.
Exactly what Paul says. Don't rush to sell it on just because it isn't the seeker. Trust me. When you get your fish of a lifetime safely landed & returned safely etc, your going to reflect back on its capture, & you'll be extolling the rods virtues & recommending it to anyone else that asks the question 'which rod'?

I've had a load of barbel rods pass through my hands, and yes I like the F. S hi S range. But have pretty much gone over to Torrix's now, as I get them customed built.

Those rods you currently have will land big barbel don't worry on their performances, and enjoy the experience.
🤣
Welcome to BFW by the way👍

Thanks for your kind words mate ....... I do tend to get carried away so to speak and thats just me
Im so looking forward to the season ahead as I was going to target the Severn but decided on a season on the Dee first (my local river) just to see if there any descent Boris's that call it home

I was the same when I started out.... 🤣
If you need any rods I've got plenty to sell as most of my mates on here know what I'm like 😝
