Been Barbel fishing for two years after re-joining the angling fraternity only 6 years previous, but after being persuaded by my brother to "fish the Severn for a Barbel" I am totally hooked and changed my entire approach even at over 50 yrs of age. (Just caught my first Grayling recently and they wonderful too). Been member of this site for nearly a year and read some posts with interest as they help my limited knowledge, read some posts which made me laugh out loud and have come across some post which I read with incredulity.
Surely the idea of the site is to "have fun", "pass on help" "be sociable" and "give advice" and not to "criticise" and "cast aspersions"; oh how low that idea seems recently.
So; deep intact of breath, glug of a glass of Merlot in hand, and say, how about a thread of "Just go Fishing" with comments on what happened?
I start:
Monday: One rod roving went on River Dane and caught 2 Chub on Maggots early on but zero for 4hrs after; got wet
Tuesday: River Dee and fished two rods, Barbel rod with garlic spam was zero, but maggot feeder on lighter rig got me 8 Grayling between just under a pound to biggest at 2lb 1oz, and felt like a small Barbel with its spirited fight (only caught a Grayling less than 3 weeks ago).
Thursday: Probably the Severn at Shrewsbury, Garlic Spam amd Liver flavoured boilies but a few maggots left over!
Its a start surely.........
