Apparently local authorities have been given permission to dump raw sewage into rivers. Apparently there is a delay in getting chemicals for treatments due to brexit, so government have issued this temporary solution. WTF

Local Authorities have no responsibility for sewerage systems or sewage treatment, only powers concerning septic tanks and for private drinking water sources. Water companies are responsible for sewers and sewage treatment. The story in the media is hype.
