hi all,
can anybody recommend somewhere to go for a couple of days barbelling where there is a very good chance of a few fish?
the wye was my first choice but it seems there is no night fishing and i really wanted to stay on the bank.
am looking to go end of august for probably 2 nights/ 3 days, have considered the trent but didn't really want anywhere so busy, i know it's a lot to ask but would be useful to get some ideas
thanks all, leon

River Severn BAA waters. Plenty of Barbel and night fishing allowed on certain stretches. I went night fishing a few seasons back in june and had the entire stretch to myself.

cheers stephen, had a look on their website and knowle sands looks like a good bet for a few fish, i'll definitely keep it in mind.
i've never fished the severn though i have been over it on my way to visit family in hereford, looks like a big river, almost like fishing the trent? though hopefully not as busy!

Try phoning Woody in Woodys tackle shop in Hereford about night fishing, I found him very helpful when I was in a similar position a few years ago. Explain that you are visiting and I'm sure he'll fix you up.
You might also want to buy a bit of bait off him when you arrive and get up to date info.

Hi Leon i dont know if you are aware of it . If you want to night fish any of the BAA water you have to be a member and get a night permit .
You could try any of the tackle shops in either Hereford or Ross on Wye .
I am sure they could point you in the right direction and tell you what is available .

Hi Joe
you are right! just had another look and as i thought it said "night permits available at £6 per session", and it does but only to members!
back to the drawing board then, any other suggestions??? it doesn't matter which river or how far, just want to stop on the bank and hopefully catch a few barbel,
cheers, leon

Why don't you just buy the season ticket . Think they only cost 30 quid and then you got it for the year .

Crikey, living where you do ,you would be mad to go anywhere else,it's rammed full of Barbel with absolutely miles of water to go at,night and day.

And it wouldnt be hard to find a bit of quiet water.
