Any Body Catching

Has any one caught much this weekend??. A mate and I have fished the upper Trent all day saturday and the Dove all day Sunday and not had as much as a sniff. I was just wondering how others had done.:(

Scaz - I was out all day Thursday without so much as a sniff (rising river, then high enough to make it hard work). I know of a chap who had two barbel out of a NW river on either Friday or Saturday. With yet another cold spell on the way, it's not getting any easier, is it? :)

Scaz-Stay closer to home.Had one Barbel on Friday and three yesterday, and each time had chosen stretch all to myself;)

Cheers Dave

I was out with rich on thurs, ideal conditions when i arrived, they managed to last all of 5 minutes when the river rose, rose and rose some more, not a sniff in about 16hrs and 2-3 differant swims, very hard going, tried again last night again spot on conditions, river was dropping slight bit of colour overcast the lot and again blanked, had one reel good bite, when i leant into it there was nothing there, plenty of activity before the bite with plenty of knocks and twitches, not a sniff afterwards.
i,d be quite interested to see how other people have fared as well
cheers

I was out yesterday and blanked .Not even a sniff  .River and tempertures seemed perfect . Some body foget to tell the fish  . Having read the river reports every one appears to be struggling . With only the odd fish being caught in what all the books tell us are near perfect conditions for the time of year

Thats great going Dave. By what is said above local seems to be the way to go. I've not seen a Barbel since mid November. You've got it sussed keep it up.

Fished the Saturday before last, had two Barbel, two Roach and one Chub.
River was well up and coloured and still quite cold.
Fished this Saturday, had nine Barbel and six Chub, river level down about 8" - 10" on the previous week, still holding some colour, very windy but air temperature had been up all week.
Dropped two fish when fishing with the centrepin ( a skill i`ve yet to master ).
Had the stretch to myself until about 1.00 when one other angler arrived.

Kevin - I presume you're fishing somewhere in the South East? And doing very well, from what you've written..... Nice one! It's not half so productive up here in the North West :)

Hi Rich, yes mate, fishing the Upper Lea, good stock levels, not many doubles but great fun any time of the season.
Twenty fish in a session is not uncommon.
Coming up to your neck of the woods on Saturday for eight days, hope to be fishing the Ribble on the Ribchester ticket. ( I hope all that ice has gone ).

Friend of mine has had a 12 out of Fishers Green this evening.

I had a 6.08 chub out of the Lea Nav last night.

So the fish are feeding.

Would Mr Pilgrim be a Ginger Chappie, by any chance?

Hi Simon, he certainly would be.

Congratulations on " Another " good Chub.

Do you still have to book to night fish the Navigation ?

Richard, you don't know the half of it! :D

Hope you're well and catching mate?

Hey Kev.....!

Jerry now has the entire section of the Navigation from Dobbs Weir down through Carthagena Weir to the "Conkers". The Carthagena season ticket covers all of this including night fishing as far as I know. I wouldn't know about the "Day Ticket" rules, best give him a call if you're interested?

It's been quite hard going and I've only had three chub there so far this Winter, 6lb, 6.05 and 6.08. But at least they're getting bigger.........?

well i,ve just had my 3rd blank in a row, temps had dropped slightly apart from that the river looked superb, just cant locate them at the mo, plenty of time left yet though to find em, thank god
cheers
