Do you want to protect your fishery from the introduction of invasive non-native species, or control a species that is already present at your water?
The Angling Trust have launched a new round of funding to help anglers tackle this issue. This follows on from our first round which focused on tackling predation and is funded through Environment Agency rod licence income.

I get that Chris, but not with you re the can of worms? This is a good thing right?
 
This would appear to be biased towards commercial type fisheries especially those who host matches attended by anglers who fish many waters. I would have thought the responsibility and financing at these venues should be met by the owners.
Any club renting water will normally have written into their agreement that use of herbicides by the licencee/lessee is strictly banned although perhaps the funding for training might overcome this obstacle.
Whilst an important issue I think there are more pressing needs for funding.
