Angling Club near Stevenage?

Aaron Littlefield

Senior Member
Hi everyone,

can anybody recommend a good angling club somewhere near Stevenage, Hertfordshire? I've not long moved to the area and wish to join a club/society that has access to some rivers for barbel. I tend to prefer isolated spots where its peaceful and quiet and away from lots of anglers and the general public.

I'm not a match angler, purely a pleasure angler, with no interest in competition - can anybody recommend or know of a decent club nearby? My last club was the RAE Angling Society, which had a lovely private stretch on the River Blackwater, if I can find something similar I think I'd be quite content.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Aaron

Hi Aaron, take a look at Verulam Angling, they have some cracking venues, great club, well run, plenty of river venues ( Lea, Ivel , Ouse ) a good friendly bunch.

Several in our area. Have a look at;

Letchworth and District Angling Association
Biggleswade and Hitchin Angling Association

Cheers,

Tim

Aaron,

Most of the clubs in the area will be affiliated with the IPA which is the River Ivel protection association. So which ever one you join will most probably give you access to that. If you look slightly further afield then you may also be interested in Blunham and Vauxhall as well as the excellent clubs previously mentioned.
