alternative net handle suggestion

not wanting to start one of 'those threads':D but has anyone had a look at these?

Tri-Cast Fishing Accessories

i picked one up off a mate for £30 as he won it and had no use for it, would still have been very happy to pay £50 rrp.

designed for hauling in 200lb of dumb puddle pigs so im sure it will be plenty strong enough, it feels it at home anyway. nice and stiff and not overly heavy at all. should be plenty long enough for the tidal trent at 12ft 6in and as its take apart can also be used at 8ft 3in.

there is also a nice solid brass thread in the end of the main top section so you do not have to use the short piece on the end which is designed for you to stick the puddle pig in the keep net still in the landing net without swinging the handle about. i found when i match fished that these short sections could sometimes work loose if your not carefull.

i can wait to get out and try it, and with the length options and weight i think it will be replacing my current allround handle rather than been kept for the barbel fishing:)

Looks like a good piece of kit Dave, you can never be over gunned with long handles around these parts, thanks for the heads up.

Never been a fan of take apart handles always worry they could part.

In the past I have wondered why push together landing net sections don't seem to be prone to pulling apart. I think that the answer is that as soon as there is any sort of bend in the handle, it effectively locks the joints. The sections only pull apart when there is no tension in the handle.

I'm perfectly happy to use them on the right venue and have a few to choose from. I won't risk them on any peg where there's a drop to the water. However, the Tri-Cast is a cracking example of its type.

I'll second that and it explains how big fish can be caught on the pole. Just don't pull for a break if you snag the island vegetation without putting a bend in the pole. I didn't and the top two just pinged off into the lake. Rather embarrassing having to strip off and swim out during a match!!

Had one for several years when match fishing.
Very strong handle that has an excellent rep amongst match anglers.

It comes in three pieces with a short take apart section at the net end.
The only reason I got rid for my barbel fishing was because of the worries that it would come apart when fishing high banks
