6010 vs. 6000 OC

Has anyone tried the ST4000FB reels ?
I realise that they're 'entry level' reels but wondered if they're any good.
Mark,
My first Shimano's were the older ST4000FA’s which I’ve still got and occasionally use for Tenching. The line clip on the “plastic” spool is better than the lorded 4000OC which is why I still use them. I used them for a number of years Barbelling so if that is your budget buy and use with confidence 👍
Regards
Bill
PS…they have a cracking front drag which I find nice and non-snatchy.

Ok thanks Bill / Richard. Just saw them when looking at the 4000 oc (which seem hard to find) and thought they looked ok at that price.
I still use my old Okuma dynadrags when a centrepin isn't practical and they've been brilliant but might treat myself.
Cheers

The Tackle Warehouse in Crawley, W Sussex are showing stock of 4000OC’s at the moment Mark and there’s also company called Fish Deal coming up with stock. The latter being the best price.

Neil, after much deliberation, I fully agree with you mate. I've got two Aero 3500 RE's, bought in the 80's, that I've used in the past to land doubles from the Lower. I'm going to load them with new (Ghost)line, and match them with my still virgin Free Spirit HI S BW rods. Ok, they're 'small', but unless I experience an (intolerable) problem with them, they'll do me. Cus really (as you rightly say) "..it ain't broke" 🙃.
Hi Terry

Is that Profish Ghost line you are using? Can't seem to buy it anymore unless you know where it is available?

Yes Nicholas, it's Profish, the most abrasion resistant line I've come across. I'd bought a couple of spools of it in 12lb bs in the past for snag fishing but when I tried to buy more all I could find was 15lb in 1000m length, so I ended up buying a spool of that. The next best thing I've actually used extensively is Krystonite (fluoro coated mono) which I use for about 75% of my barbel fishing.

Yup, I found it really good. Just can't find any supplies now that I've used the spool I had (apart from some red stuff on Ebay) . I'm not short of other line to use, just would have got more Ghost line if it was available in mist/grey.
