Morning All,
I am in the process of starting my own venture, I won’t be making rods I have access to a couple of builders mainly Nick Buss that has become a good friend over the years. I am setting up a small scale company sourcing and selling Handmade British made tackle aimed at the specialist angling market.
There will be small batches of rods being made on the likes of Harrison stuff like Nicks original canal special potentially being bought back for a run to give you an example. They will be things that you can now only remake by getting x amount of blanks made.
If any of you guys have a hobbie of making hand made tackle you want to chat to me about I could buy in small bulk batches and put though the new site etc contact me. Also if you have any ideas of what you would like to see make a come back or missing let me know we can stick it on the ideas bank, also have access to century blanks also but not sure on remakes of old stuff it will be a lot harder and comes at a premium. There be some new bits coming along as well, and we can do all the normal Harrison range.
It’s a side project as I have two small kids and busy job but it’s coming out of a passion and want something I can full back on if needed and have a place that collaborates the best of British made in small batches that come and go like it used to be, clothing, dust bags, bits and bobs etc.
It may not work, but you have to try !
But that brings me on to the first 3 rods up on the bench atm ready in a couple of weeks.
American tackle Atrex 2.5lb 12ft, after getting these blanks for a carp project we looked at each other and was like these are barbel big water rods all day long. They are over rated in test curve a little they sit just above 2.25lb with a nice tip and power where you needed.
They will be built 6 rings plus tip 30 - 10mm Kigen gun smoke rings, a grade flared cork handles with Fuji grey reel seats. There can me small customisation made if wanted but to keep the price
At £250 pound a rod the base build will need to be kept fairly similar. If you want the tips painted in a colour it’s a surcharge of 10 pound per tip.
They are not just a barbel rod would make excellent surface or small water carp rods as well.
If this post is not allowed I will remove.
But thanks for reading
More will be coming on this venture down the line and will keep you up to date on the journey and website etc.
