As above bought last year new, only used half a dozen times. £250 delivered. Immaculate and can't see a mark on em. 20210110_182936.jpg20210110_182952.jpg20210110_182448.jpg

Can I ask a question regarding these reels ?? I'd never really paid much attention to this style of reel, I'm a baitrunner user, and this may sound a little contrite, but what is it about them that make people like them ??

I'm not trying to offend John, just generally interested.

Because they’ve proved themselves as reliable, functional and excellent performing reels in an unchanged design for years and years. So many anglers have had them and not been let down by them. If Daiwa decides to stop making or drastically change them, the originals will rocket in price.

I’ve got a pair of these excellent clutch, tough reels.not as smooth as some reels but I like that about them.
As Richards said been made for years almost unchanged.
I think you can upgrade the bearings inside? but mine are as is.

They’ve got a very distinctive wobble about them. Part of their charm I suppose much like the old 3500B’s charm with its shoddy line lay. It’s just how they are and we get on with it because...... they are brilliant

Nailed it there pal .

I suppose you could say they are imperfect but do the important stuff flawlessly

I love mine also , got 2 that have been used on tench rods , prior to that they where my pike reels

I’ve also got the smaller brother , the ss1600 which is just a fraction smaller but identical in every other department to the big brother

Modern day classics just like the shimano 3500b

Buy them and find out first hand how brilliant they are...can’t believe Jon,s selling them I would rather someone pour vinegar in my eyes than sell mine

I use the SS1600 for floater fishing for carp - brilliant reel imo. Also use the SS1300 for chubbing on the Dane, balances perfectly on an 11ft quivertip, cracking little reel.
