Hello, my name is Noddy and I have a question.

Braid!! A couple of seasons ago I struggled with mono hooklengths on the Severn when using a maggot feeder and maggot on the hook. I tried to lighten the hooklink because I was using a small bait, with lots of breaks, which is the wrong approach in my mind. When all said and done you are after...

    Customer Service

My experiences with Korum has been very good as well. I lost the adjuster knob off my chair and emailed asking where I could buy a replacement and they sent one FOC I also had some trouble with their big feeders, the cage was coming off the lead, so I sent some photos and they sent me...

    New Korum river feeders

I tried a couple of the large feeders on the Middle Trent last week. I had no problem with the bait coming out of the one end, if you are using ground bait to plug your feeder then you only need to plug one end so get about the same number of pellets in. The flow was not enough to test if I...

Atcham, there is a long stretch run by the National Trust on the right bank. Day tickets from the shop at Attingham House, in Atcham, used to be £5. Parking is at Lower Brompton Farm, you get code for the lock on the gate when you get your day ticket. Plenty of a Barbel & Chub on this stretch.

    Korum Hooks.

No mention of the ever reliable Drennnan Super Specialist Barbel hooks!! Any thoughts on the new Drennan Specimen plus? This kind of thread always get you thinking. As I reported earlier I have had no problems with the Xpert Power hooks to date on big rivers & I generally like to use the...

    Korum Hooks.

I have used the Korum Power hooks on two sessions on the Middle Trent over the weekend, 20 fish to 10-06 and no problems with the hooks. Seem to be good value IMHO. :)

    Suggestion for hooklength

I had problems with a combi rig on the Middle Trent on Monday. I lost 4 fish to the braid giving way  My hooklength was made up of 4ft of 12lb Fluoro and 1ft of 12lb Sinkbraid. The knots were fine but the sinkbraid gave way. I am pretty sure that the braid was fraying but I was not...

    Leadcore: And its use of...

I saw a video of Bob James using leadcore when fishing on the river Wye. He was using it primarily to prevent getting broken off by rocks. From my experiences on the Wye I can see some benefit for using it.

    Float rod recommendations

I have been using the 13' Drennan Power Float rod for Waggler fishing on the river Severn and stick float fishing on the river Dane and it as a great rod, loaded with 8lb mainline it has plently of backbone and is nice and light and I have landed many Barbel on it up to 9-8 with no problem. I...

    Tethered Fish

I like the look of the Enterprise snag safe clips, they seem to offer added safety if your feeder/lead gets snagged. I was recently fishing a very snaggy swim on the Wye and lost my rigs several times after reeling in to recast, not with fish on, pulling for the break. I am pretty certain that...

    hooklength length???

I've just started using 4' hooklinks on the Severn & Wye, I have done fairly well with them so far. My view is that the longer the length then the fish are further away from the feeder and probably more importantly the main line so there is less chance of them spooking on the main line.

New line for the new season.

Has anyone used Gamma High Performance Copolymer line for Barbel? I have started using the 8lb line for Tench fishing and found it to be very good, it lays very well and has minimal line twist, much better than Sensor. I have responded with 10 lb Hydra Tuff, which on testing breaks around 12lb...

    Hooklengths

I generally use Drennan Sink Braid, either 10lb or 12lb, for most of my fishing. I believe that the softer the better as it will lie well on the river bed and secondly just after the feeder hits the bottom the bait will act naturally whilst the hooklink straightens out in the flow. I have had...
