    banding pellets

Andrew , bend of hook for me, but I would imagine if you put it on the shank it would end up on the bend anyway unless the bait bands were super tight. Steve

    ABF/HKS/Bradford No1 fish-in River Trent this weekend

Thanks to all involved who organised the fish-in, especially Dan Birkett. The curry was spot on too. I only fished the Saturday but enjoyed the craic and banter, well done everyone who participated for such a worthy cause. Steve.

    Powder Coating Leads

Another method I use is to coat the lead in the shop bought plastic coating and while the coating is still hot drop the lead into some dried out garden compost, giving instant dung leads, works a treat. Steve.

    Your first barbel

My first barbel was caught at Atcham on the Severn 20 years ago, it weighed about 4lb , caught on the maggot feeder, JW rod and 6lb line,I have beefed up my gear a fare bit since those days, now I use 1.75 - 2lb test curve rods and 12lb - 15lb line. Still happy to catch barbel big or small...

    "The Barbus" Centerpin.

I haven't seen an isotope reccess on a pin before, Im not sure its neccesary but who am I to judge ? It may just turn out to be a usefull idea for fishing at night. Steve.

    "The Barbus" Centerpin.

It looks a nice bit of kit, a smaller version of the Barbel Catcher reel. I can vouch for Garys workmanship as I have a couple of Garys reels already. I wonder if I I could make some room in my tackle bag without the Mrs finding out. lol. :):) Steve.

Reels (to go with that full armoury of rods)?

For me pins most of the time, I just love using them, Garry Mills Barbel Catchers, Purist II, Richard Carter Aerial Gem also a Speedia that I love using, plus one or two more that I have not told the Mrs about, lol. Shimano 3500bs and Okuma EPB 40s for the bigger rivers and longer casts.

    Using 2 rods

two rods Hi Graham, I fish with two rods most of the time as I fish a difficult stretch of river with more blanks than fish, that way gives me options to use different baits and end rigs i.e. feeder or straight lead, upstream and down depending on the swim. At night I generally use just the one...
