Korum waist trotting tray, Is this a good or dumb idea?

I used to have an old Shakespeare bait apron with two pouches and a small pocket for a disgorger a box of shot, hooks and line. I think it was a tenner. Best thing for standing in the river trotting, this idea from Korum looks like it won’t work well. I fly fish now and have a lanyard that goes...

Still damp in Ross on Wye today!!!

Drove from Barnsley to Newbury yesterday. Crossed the following rivers, all in the fields, Rother, Erewash, Trent, Warks Avon, Cherwell, Thames and Kennet. Quite the sight. Came to England for three weeks and it rained every single day.

    OCD and fishing.

I agree with some of the above, OCD about clothes rod colors etc. makes zero difference. level rods etc, no edge either. It more just brings a level of enjoyment to some I guess. I do think being organized is an edge. Not wasting time finding stuff or tying rigs etc. being consistent on rig...

    OCD and fishing.

I’m super OCD about some things. I always had to have matching clothes and luggage, I had a full set of MAP luggage along with bib n brace, coat and fleece, all the same color. When I was really young everything was blue, hat, coat, trousers, seat box, luggage, rod accents, bait boxes……Reels...

Great shot, reminds me of a day at Throop about 15 years ago in October or November when two deer crossed the river neck deep like that just upstream of where I was fishing.

Avon Roach Project turn their attention to barbel

If you are not familiar with the Avon Roach project they have been very successful increasing the number of roach in the Hampshire Avon through several Initiatives over the last ten years. They have now turned their attention to barbel with a program that may be successful in other rivers. At...

Why tench is most favourite fish to catch?

As a kid tench we’re the most likely big fish I would catch. The lakes had a handful of old big carp but they weren’t realistic targets for me. I float fished for whatever came along and hoped for a tench. They were my favorite species until I discovered barbel and I always made time to fish for...

    Your first barbel photo

Very early 90’s guesting on the River Severn. The guy I was fishing with threw a big chunk of luncheon meat upstream and told me to hang on. Not sure who was more surprised when this took! Spent the rest of the day stick float fishing for dace. It was 12 or 13 years before I caught another.

    Sad News about JW

Very sad news, John was a good guy. I met him at a couple of BFW fish ins and sat under his umbrella for several hours one day on the Royalty where he shared a lot of knowledge. Rest in peace John.

    Cherwell

My first ever fishing trip was on the Cherwell at Chipping Warden where my Nan still lives. I caught a ton of minnows with my uncle, was likely 6 or 7 years old at the time. I fished it quite a bit as a kid spending summer with Nan and Grandad and walking across the field to the river every day...
