Dean, Do like that for an alternative angle, was fairly pleased at the way the pics came out considering it spent most of its time trying to wrap itself around Chris!

Nick, On my list of ones to buy, haven't been into eel fishing for that long although have dabbled in the past. The 8 i had last year blew me away though and have/will be spending a lot more time after them in future. The tench fishing isn't too bad on the lake next door either, opened today and...

Nick, Guessing that would be Steve Ricketts, know he fished it and did well quite a few years back. Simon, Problem on there is that there are good features everywhere, loads of them in places you can't even get to. I tend to move to a different swim most nights, but both my fish from there have...

Nick, They won't get on the bank that i fish, only limited tickets available. Another good thing is that many know how hard this water can be and aren't prepared to put in the time. I've only been fishing it for the past year myself but live within 12 miles of it. Going to get side-tracked...

Nick, My mate Dave Ball was there (used to be NAC secretary) and he reckoned it was a young fish judging by the colouration and size of the eye, apparently that changes when they reach maturity, something that i wasn't previously aware of.

42.5 long by 10.75 girth. Very fat all the way along its body, looked like a young fish and was 3 in. shorter than my eight from last year.

Simon, News does travel fast, was 9-9, did the photographs of it. Very impressive fish, looked young as well and wasn't even all that long but very big girth. It is very exciting on there when you do get a bite, just doesn't happen very often though!

Cheers Steve and Dean, That is probably my bite for the season on there! Hoping it might do a few more eels this year but in the past few seasons the lake has been producing one fish a year on average (hardly anyone fishes it though), could do an absolute monster.

Dean, Got lucky on my first night of the season after them, was about 10 days ago though when it was warmer, nice fish of 5-5 from a 300 acre (seen various sizes stated between 200 and 300 acres for the place, all i know for sure is it is pretty big)! Had a few blanks since then though, Dyson...

Andy, The main reason for using the Dyson rig was to try and get round the crayfish (which it did) as anything popped up from the bottom didn't last very long as they used to walk along the hook link (they did the same with zig rigs for carp)! I do like it as a way of presenting a bait off of...

Steve, Ping me over your e-mail address and i will send it to you if that is okay, not great on computers when it comes to anything other than writing stuff or editing pics! Andy, I'm certainly no eel expert, not like Barry McConnell, just decided to have a go on a water where i knew the...

    CLO (Sluis Equivalent)

I have used Sluis CLO and Myner many years ago in birdfood boilie base mixes. It was basically a mixture of small seeds plus conditioners for the birds it is meant to feed. To be honest i can't see it being much good as a binder. Would have thought your best bet would be Vitalin, surprising how...

Will give it a try when i get a chance, guess I'll have to downsize the pics as well as they are around 30MB.

Although i take pics as part of my job I'm completely ignorant when it comes to posting them up on a website. If someone explains a simple way to do it then will happily post one up - they were in my column in Angler's Mail last September, but i know plenty of you don't get the mag so may not...

Was lucky enough to have one of 8-1, believe it was the only one that the water produced last year! Will be back for another go once it warms up a bit but doubt I'll ever beat that one.

No definitely not been a member of the BEAC but in the BCSG. I'm not an out and out eel angler but enjoy fishing for them along with pretty much every other species. Just got a bit lucky last year with a fish that I'll probably never beat - had a few people tell me i should have stopped eel...

Theo, Might have to tie up for a session somewhere this summer, will be good to catch up. I'll be back on Broadwater and will be extremely happy if i even manage another bite this season! Nick, Not sure what BEAC is! Live and fish in the Colne Valley area.

Will be doing a bit through the spring and summer, really enjoyed it last year despite only having one bite, which turned out to be quite a nice fish, but did have 300 acres of fairly overgrown water to myself most nights that i fished!

    Gamma Fluorocarbon Leader Material?

Have used the Gamma fluoro a lot for my barbel fishing and have never had a problem with it - unlike other fluoros that I've tried over the years. It knots very well and seems more tolerant of a variety of knots than other fluoros I've tried (still prefer a Palomar though). Have had it on one of...

    Lucky anglers?

Andy, Totally agree about when you want it too much then you often don't catch. I have seen people 'burn-out' through trying too hard and setting their sights too high, and in the end forgetting why they are there in the first place - to enjoy themselves! Once it becomes an effort and you have...
