    Accommodation

Hi Michael, you can purchase a yearly permit for Nottingham Piscatorial Society for East Stoke, they cost 75 quid, but you would have to check availability online as they are limited. Jim

    Braid choice for hooklinks

Have you tried the seaguar grand max, better abrasion resistance and thinner for its breaking strain. I used soft plus for years for match barbel fishing, but then tried the grand max and found it even better..

Re-corking a WH Norris split cane rod

If it's your main target this season, too catch a chub or barbel on this rod, I would give it a go Gavin. You won't find out what it's like untill you try 👍

Try a rolled up sock in your instep, it's a bit fiddly getting your sock on, but errindoors. should help. It made a huge difference for me regarding walking 👍

    Shimano Baitrunner 6000: XTR-RA, XT-RA, XTEA or GTE-C?

I think I would lean towards an OC ,D or Thunnus baitrunner, in the 6000 size... or depending on your distances regarding lake work, even the 5500 medium baitrunner. But for me, up to 2lb test a 4000 would be perfect for the river. But not for distance work on lakes, so a bit of a conundrum...
