I don’t really fish the Leam, more the Avon and primarily at Barford (when there’s not a bloody match on). Used to fish Wasperton / Charlecotte a lot but they’ve gone downhill in the last two years. What about yourself ?

Yes there is a very big fish there. Came out twice last year. I fish MF at the weekends in the summer and it’s a nightmare - by 7pm on a Friday there must be x30 lines in the water. It’s no wonder not much comes out. Midweek or a Sunday is likely the best time to fish it. Not sure re Anchor...

What is the ultimate setup for a long walk?

The bag is the key thing for me - the larger it is, the more stuff you’ll be inclined to put in there. I take the following when roving: -Rod / reel (leave the rod bag in the car) -1 pint maggot box with flouro / hooks / lead -Freezer bag with chosen bait (usually meat) -Net -Mat -Single bank...

Barbel fishing in France / Belgium /Holland

Thanks - just catching would be nice as it’s tough going in my local river. General tactic there seems to be a feeder in the middle of the river, it does look like a great bit of water. On a separate note how’s your waters been fishing this last year ? I’m down the road (Barford) and it’s been...

Barbel fishing in France / Belgium /Holland

Bit of a thread-bounce on this one as am looking to fish the Meuse later this year, likely July / August. Has anyone fished in Fumay at all please ? I came across a really a good YouTube video (Paul Floyd) and it looks a nice spot, not too far to travel to by car and some camping areas / hotels...

    Big Cat sightings

The farmer who owns those fields must have seen something over the years even if it’s just prints. Any chance you could post those pics again please as they look to have been deleted ?

Swan mussel shells / GLM attractant

Thanks for the feedback. I’ve heard a few podcasts where the carp boys talk about the full fat GLM powder vs unfatted. They also say there are two variations of the full fat. The cheap stuff like nutrabsits sell and the more expensive stuff like FeedStim which is x3 the price !!!

    Big Cat sightings

Me and my mate fish Harvington and he said he saw a big cat last year. I had no reason to not believe him especially when this was reported a few weeks ago: https://www.worcesternews.co.uk/news/24808838.big-cat-sightings-worcestershire-puma-harvington/ Looping in @John Care as I’m sure a...

Swan mussel shells / GLM attractant

Has anyone used GLM as an attractor in their bait making at all please ? Was walking the bank yesterday and after the water dropping down a metre I noticed hundreds of swan mussel shells on the bankside. I know Nutrbaits do GLM powder (as do Holland & Barett) and was thinking of soaking some...

I’m in the same position and also looking for one. Narrowed it down to Korum Super Lite River or the Drennan Specialist Umbrella. Both have the following: Removable centre pole Pegging points Bank stick threads

    First time on the Wye

Any danger of starting a thread specifically on “pressure” ? I feel the original purpose of the post had gone way off topic.

    First time on the Wye

On my local waters it’s “40 match anglers each and every Saturday”. Once the clocks change it barely gives pleasure anglers and time to fish.

    What banksticks/ storm poles??

For storm-poles the Korum screw ones are good as they come with a small detachable handle which really allows you to drive the bankstick into the ground. For regular bankstick I use Fox block label mainly as they fit into their matching stage-stands so I can use on pallets if needed or just...

    First time on the Wye

Yeah some of the swims are a bit dodgy. I thought Woody was super helpful. He got my phone, opened up Google maps and “pinned” exactly where to park and which swims to try and how far out to cast.

    First time on the Wye

Put us on a place called Warham. Friend I was with had three fish in three casts !!! We’re going to join HDAA next season for sure.

    Why Korum, why?

Can I ask what legs you used for this tripod please ? I got a Trakker tripod for the Wye last weekend and within 2-mins it had fallen over and washed all my bloody meat / pellet down the bloody river !!!
