Hahah - we’re having a week chilling now. It was bloody hot there though. First thing I did when I left Jurassic was delete that 6:15am alarm 🤣🤣🤣🤣

    Chapman 500 split cane rod

That’s exactly what I’m after and a 3-piece so I can fit it in the car easier. Have pinged him a few emails but still waiting for him to get back to me. Hopefully he does soon. Did he do you a custom build or was this one from his catalogue of rods ? Do you have any photos at all please ?

    Chapman 500 split cane rod

    Turns out it’s actually a 550.

    Chapman 500 split cane rod

Thanks for the advice - turns out looking closely at the advert is actually for a 550 Mark 4 Carp Rod. Yes, I thought the £200 was a bit steep, I’d happily pay £150 but not much more than that especially as I’m looking to get a custom built 11ft’er for next season anyway. Hopefully from Ryan Burns.

    Chapman 500 split cane rod

Funny you should say that as I’ve just looked closely at the advert and it’s actually a 550 the guy has for sale.

    Chapman 500 split cane rod

Someone locally is selling a Chapman 550 10ft carp rod which I’m wondering if it would be any good for Barbel fishing. I fish the W.Avon and typically with a 11ft (with a pin) due to the tight swims I like to fish. Maximum weight fish is a low double and I’m typically flicking a 1oz lead out...

    Best pellets

Agreed - my mate always told me "you could catch a barbel on a wellington boot if it was hungry enough". It's all about confidence in your bait and how you apply it. When pellet fishing on the river I use Hinders Elips 95% of the time. I've tried other (3FT, shop-bought stuff) but have never...

Postage is expensive though from memory.

I have seen these too. More readily available where you live though than the UK.

This is pretty much the only bait I use and the same super-glued approach.

    Fishflix Fishing Tv

Just downloaded the app and signed up this morning. I’ve got a long flight to Thailand on Weds, as going fishing for a week, and needed some material for the flight. Oddly enough I paid through iTunes and it only came out as £7.99 (vs. £9.99 on the website).

    Hello from France !

Cracking fish thy are. I fished the Meuse (Fumay) this year and absolutely loved it. Was way out my comfort zone, due to the size of the river, but still managed to catch. That river you fish looks beautiful and similar so the type of river I fish in the UK. Will check you YouTube vids out...

Advice needed for a fixed spool float fishing reel for trotting.

The 501 is a great reel but can be a bit heavy in the hand after a while trotting. It may or may not be in budget but I’ve got a JW Young Ray Walton “Rolling Pin” which tilts at 90-degrees so you can cast properly at distance if needed (with a lead / feeder) but still trot it down a swim should...

    Black Friday deal Snugpak SJ9

They’re crafty bu99ers AD are. The only actual size you can buy at this price is a MEDIUM. The rest are either (allegedly) out of stock or still at full price.

Advice on a different type of water

May sound daft but have you got access to a small boat ? Also, where is this place as we all want to visit 😂😂😂😂

Advice on a different type of water

I'd be heading to these spots if it was me, although I note you said you cycle so may not be easy to get to.

Advice on a different type of water

I would personally be looking for barbel on the gravel patches, but then again I don't know the river. If there's rain on it then look for some slack water on the inside margin and drop in a rod-length out (or where the crease-line is).

Advice on a different type of water

As others have said you’re fortunate at having shoaling fish. Get the bait in and have them grubbing around for it and competing between themselves. Hemp is good as it’s not as easy for chub to pick up when it falls between the stones…a barbel however will hoover it up like a vacuum. Have a...

    Flood water fishing

Used to be a great stretch, those last few pegs where great fish-holding areas (bit bloody spooky once dusk came though). I remember walking back to the main gate through the spinney about 10pm one night and a pheasant flew out from underneath my feet, scared me half to death !!! Sadly that bit...
