I give in ("Oops there is a problem" error msg.) trying to attach photos.
Measurements are:-
10k- diameter 60.9mm, line lay 25.3mm
6k- dia. 54.8, line lay 25.2 to 26.3mm depn. on how much spool is filled.
Steve,
All have near identical line lay ( I think the diff.s shown here are due to diff. degree of spool-fill).
Are they identical? Probably not, as you might be able to see from the line lay on the 10k spool that is on a 6k body. It's a little bit tapered towards the front, but not noticeable...
Hi Alan,
Yes 6000 (which was newer name for as 4500...which had spools labeled R4.5) spools fit 10000s.
Photo shows 10k spool on a 4500, 8000 spool on a 6010 and 4500/6010/R4.5 spool on an XTE10000.
I believe 4010/5010 spools might not (smaller rotor on a 4500/6010 body)?
PS. Why? I generally...
Hi. 50% are marked (under the epoxy) 2.25lb, but all four are identical.
Where did you buy yours? I'm willing to try again but Billy Clarke Tackle have no more (PS. They gave been very good about this and offered immediate refund).
Out of interest are your 1.75 and 2.25lb tips different diameters?
I'm just sending a pair of these rods back as all four tips are approx. 1.6mm od and the replacements Fox sent to the shop are also same diameter.
Another customers tips were checked as 1.6mm for 1.75 and 1.9mm for the 2.25s...
Darren, thanks that's good to know.
I don't suppose you've got a vernier and could measure the diameter of yours so I can determine if I've got 4x2.25 or (as I reckon) 4x1.75 tips*?
I've got average of 1.6mm just below tip ring, 3.0mm above third guide and 5.7 above fifth guide. All four...
So. I measured all four top section at four places at 90° intervals and all are within a fraction of a % the same average diameter.
Then I loaded all four up to 1.75lb. They all deflected the same amount and the curves all looked identical. The tips were not quite at 90° to butt.
I compared...
Two Fox Horizon X4 Twin Tip rods arrived. Apart from the lettering (1.75 and 2.25) I couldn't tell the tips apart.
So I measured three identical points on each top (each end and middle, avoiding epoxied areas) and the diameters are very similar.
Then I supported each butt horizontally/equally...
After a number of experiments I've landed upon (pun intended) a two- section telescopic pole with a wire hook gaffa-taped to the thin end of the outer pole. I've used it a lot over the last two winters Grayling fishing.
The hook is to hang it from the top of your chest waders behind you...
Unexpected purchase tonight.
Looked they might be reserve perch rod candidates so I took a risk.

...turns out they spin quite well.
First spin was 3 mins and a second. That's a bit better than an open-cage steel bearing I have in my other identical reel.
But jeez they're noisy. I'm going to use braid on a trotting reel for first time and I expect that running through twenty-odd rings on a...
