Just seen this. I've been using the FS River Tamer 11' 1.5lb all this season. And I absolutely love it. Have caught lots of Barbel up to 10lb10oz. Not really sure how to describe it but it just feels perfect. It's definitely the best rod in this range I've ever used. As the saying goes.... get...
To be honest I don't think light carp rods have quite the action needed but that's only my opinion. I'll probably get the wad out of the wallet and get some Free Spirit Barbel tamers 😁 😁

Seen these at what looks like a very reasonable entry level price, anyone used them or have an opinion
Thanks for the replies so far guys. Pretty much what I was thinking. Probably go for 2.25lb although seen nice Cadence 2lb test. Currently lobbing 1.5oz leads with a small mesh bag of pellets a few yards so looking forward to tackling the Trent. Although I'll still be looking to lob if possible 😂
I currently fish small rivers/ streams with my Free Spirit River Tamer 11' 1.5lb test. I love this rod and it's action, have caught low doubles and it handles them perfectly.
My question is . I am now planning a few trips to the River Trent. I would like opinions on rods/test curves you guys...
Very interested in your post and look forward to seeing the replies, as like you I am looking at a roving set up.
If like me you like to have a chair to park your bum there is no better in my opinion than the Fox Duralite Low (weighs 2.9kg). Its far more comfortable than the Korum light chairs...
Is the Barbel Society still worth joining. As far as I know there is no publication anymore. Do they still control any stretches of water.
I would happily join, but was wondering if it was a society in decline.
I would appreciate your opinions.
Thanks in advance
My fishing adventure began nearly sixty years ago when I was about 7 but when I was 10 years old I was allowed to walk or bike to the local lake. I remember catching lots of Roach, Rudd, Perch and the getting in to the Crucians and Tench, loved fishing for them. Fished every local pond catching...
Wish I had seen this before I bought a Korum lightweight chair. Simple.... they are rubbish. Had mine 3 months and it's all sagged and bloody uncomfortable
Yep I've seen those and they look like good value rods. But I definitely only want 1.5lb test. Like the look of these https://www.cadencefishing.co.uk/product/cadence-cr10-10ft-specimen-rods/
I find 1.5lb test plenty. Had a couple of doubles last season and they were fine ( Greys prodigy 12ft)
Has anyone used the Drennan twin tip 11ft 1.5. Looking for a shorter rod and was comparing these with some others
Hi all, New member here. I was thinking of joining Verulam Angling. I did see they have half tickets at the moment. If I waited till the beginning of next season do we know if tickets are usually available or does the membership get full. Any info greatly appreciated. Thanks Glyn
