    Centrepin line issues.

I promise you won't be grateful for my suggestion... a fixed spool reel. 😆 .

    Warm fishing jackets & trousers

Your original question was to ask about warm fishing jackets and trousers. Well, we now know who the trousers are for... 😄 .

    Warm fishing jackets & trousers

Love it. Buy what you like, but only when SWMBO is out of the country! 😆 .

Yeah, right... they'd be just the job for walking the Pennine Way. 😄 .

    Drennan Twistlock Handle ...again !!!

Yes, it's very odd, but it looks 100% nylon to me. (Fibreglass isn't a resin, btw... ;) ) .

    Drennan Twistlock Handle ...again !!!

Ditto, but I only asked for one. Although cleaning is always a good thing, the issue with mine was that the female thread inside the plastic collet had stripped, so you could attach and remove it from the metal part it attaches to, without having to unscrew it. The only explanation I can think...

    Really disappointing luggage.

No surprise there. In contrast, I received a free replacement plastic expanding widget for my Specialist net handle, from Drennan, within two days of emailing them. .

    Really disappointing luggage.

I'm thinking of doing the same. I like my Korda 3-rod holdall, but it would only take one tube inside and one on the outside. What kind of holdall do you use, Ian, and how many tubes will it take? I thought of going back to a quiver for the same purpose. Always fettling! .

    Warm fishing jackets & trousers

Don't know where you heard this, but taken literally it's nonsense. Base layers, for instance, are 'cut' to fit under other layers, whereas waterproof outers are cut to fit over mid layers. You'd have to buy two or three different sizes of a particular mid layer item, if you wanted them to fit...

    Warm fishing jackets & trousers

I think 10,000 HH (hydrostatic head) is plenty for a fishing jacket. When pressure is applied for a prolonged period, any garment will eventually let in water at the pressure point. Outdoor clothing companies started quoting HH because hiking and climbing jackets would leak where rucksack straps...

    Warm fishing jackets & trousers

Ditto (and bird watching), which is why I do as some have already suggested and layer up as the activity, temperature and precipitation dictate. Layering means you can use your gear all year around and smaller individual items are more easily packable. Never fished through winter before, and a...

So I’ve got a little range of bolo floats.

If you look back to #47 Ian, it seems that there is no definable body shape for what some choose to call a Bolo. It strikes me (to answer my own question) that a Bolo was originally an Italian version of an Avon. All other definitions are clearly contestable. But I think Jim is right - even an...

So I’ve got a little range of bolo floats.

To add to the confusion, the chap from Cadence (below) calls all of these floats Bolo's. In another video he describes the Avon float in much the same way as the Bolo, so (with respect) I'm not convinced anyone knows the definitive characteristics of either - apart from where the terms Avon and...

So I’ve got a little range of bolo floats.

Can I ask, when does an Avon float become a bolo float? (Or vice versa.) I've read various things on the internet about bolo floats and bolo fishing, much of it seems vague as well as contradictory, so I'm still none the wiser as to a definition. .

    Neoprene Boots

To the uneducated eye, a British Friesian looks just like a Holstein. ;) .

    Neoprene Boots

I guess most wellies look like, erm, wellies. But apart from having different seam profiles, different soles and the fact that neoprene lining only appears to be available in a Parcours with a zip... I guess they are a straight copy. 😆 .

    Neoprene Boots

If you mean neoprene lined wellies, take a look at Gumleaf. Based in Warwickshire, owned by a rugby fanatical chap called Guy Minshull, and made in the EU. Warm and comfortable, shaped so they're easy to get on and off, and to accommodate those with chunky calves (wide calf options). The best...

    River feeder rod

I agree. The only issue (apart from the graphics) I had with the Vertex Medium Feeder was the reel seat was pretty tight when accommodating my Daiwa TDM reels. Might be that these reels have large feet, but they fit all my other rods perfectly. I got mine for £70.00 and sold it for only a tenner...

    River feeder rod

Only the Acolyte Distance Feeder comes in those lengths and it's not a rod for roach and perch... Martin Bowler reckons it makes a good barbel rod. . .
