10oz lead with a pva bag as well. Lobbing rather than casting obviously, but no issues at all. I’ve thrown 8oz 50+ yards across the tidal without issue. They sound like broomsticks but they’re really not, they’re still really nice to play fish on and I believe the 13’ really makes a difference...
I’ve had the Hi S for a couple of seasons now, using them on the tidal Trent. I love them, they don’t feel 2.75 until you load them up, then you can feel the power down the lower section of the blank.
No experience of the Chimeras, but I know a few on my stretch who use the 4’s and really...
Not direct, but a friend of mine says he came face-to-face with the Exmoor beast many years ago. He’s a level-headed guy so I’ve no reason to doubt him at all.
Results would be different now I’d guess. A lot of smaller rivers are struggling, whereas the middle/tidal Trent, Severn etc will no doubt see TC’s rising. 1.75’s I use on my local river (Yorkshire rother) wouldn’t even touch the sides on the tidal Trent. Last time out I used those rods (Fox duo...
MB‘s statement confirms it’s him in the video, so that’s not speculation. The question is, why wouldn’t your statement simply say that you have never re-hooked a Barbel, unless you have? It’s very politician like and not coming across well at all.
I’m pretty shocked at some of the replies here tbh. You think it’s ok to stick a hook back in a Barbel, chuck it back in and play it again for a video? Would you do it if you were sponsored, fish at all costs and all that? And that it’s somehow equivalent to prebaiting a swim or fishing out of...
Yep. Denial doesn’t affect any legal action one bit, you simply say ‘it‘s not me in the clip, and I’m taking legal action so can’t say any more than that at the moment’. Yet MB so far hasn’t denied it’s him which doesn’t look good.
I hope it isn’t him as I enjoy his stuff.
Looks like the hook has gone through the lip, caught in the net and the weight of the fish hanging down has pulled the line through its mouth down to the anti tangle sleeve. If the twig was caught in the net the weight of the fish would pull away from it towards the hook.
The twig is a useless...
Barbel Society stretch (Sutton) has a waiting list. Only fishing opposite is on the first bend, where the Scunny stretch finishes, then the Barbel Society control both banks but there’s only fishing from the Sutton side.
Collingham banning night fishing on day tickets along with the loss of...
Bit of a faff to be tying various knots in the middle of the night though. I’d rather have a load of short looped braid hook sections tied up, then just cut the old one off and loop-to-loop the new one on.
In many situations, hook points turn over on rocks and gravel far more often than the hooklink material gets damaged, and it’s a massive waste to be throwing away 2-3ft of braid/fluoro every time. It’s certainly a lot more expensive than tying up short sections to make a combi rig, or using...
Okuma Inception 6000. Brilliant reels, I have 6 now and use them for all my Barbel and Carp fishing except for small rivers. Crank in 10oz leads no bother at all, excellent quick drag out of the box and a solid bail arm click which gives you confidence when you’ve got a big lead plus pva bag...
Rocky areas constantly turning over the hook point? I go through a ton of hooks on the tidal Trent, doesn’t matter if they’re straight point or beaked, some swims are so rocky that I can go through a packet of hooks in 24 hours. I usually use a combi rig and have a load of short braid hook...
On the Trent in daytime clear water I’ve always struggled for a bite on boilies 14mm+. 8mm pellets are much better, and I’ve caught a few recently after trying double 8mm ‘zinger’ boilies (2 of those are still a very small bait). So for me it seems to be the size of bait rather than boilies full...
