    Making your own bait.

If you boil the sausages before rolling them into boilies you can then cut them into pellet shaped sections, offers something similar to pellets but a little different being softer and having your own ingredients in them rather than off the shelf pellets 🙃 Just had a thought as well, could even...

    Making your own bait.

Definitely worth it Simon 😉 as you know I've dabbled rolling my own and have had a lot of success as a relative newcomer to Barbel fishing. I do have all the kit so you're welcome to borrow it to have a bash to see how you get on 🤔 Can borrow my ingredients too, add your own extras etc...

    Bad barbel pics

I've caught some decent fish but usually fish on my own so no one to hold the camera. Heres various lower Derwent Barbel. And a clonking fin and scale perfect 6lb Chub. Just a shame I don't have a cameraman to do my captures justice.

    Vehicle of choice

There's nothing better than loading your Barbel gear in to a completely inappropriate vehicle 🙂

    Okuma Aventa 6000

Fantastic reels. I've used the 6000's on my 2lb Barbel rods for a few seasons now and are happy with big fish on small rivers like the Derwent or mighty rivers like the Trent 💪 If these were £100 per reel I'd still buy them and think they were a bargain.

    Angling crossroads.

Great news Simon. Hopefully new knee will make traversing the river banks a whole lot easier.

    Burton Mutual.

The stretch just below thrumpton weir / cranfleet canal fishes well and allows overnighters. LEVAS ticket I believe which is only about £30. Can park right near too. Worth a punt that one I think and not too far for ya Simon 😉

    4000 ish size non-baitrunner reel choice ?

Okuma Epixor XT in 5500 size is a very good reel, not as big as it sounds either, more like a 4012 Daiwa. Can be difficult to get spare spools at times but it's a fine reel for the price.

You recieved tham yet? Awaiting your initial impressions 😁

    Daiwa emblem br25a

It'll be because they're EU based, Poland I think but I've never been charged any customs or duties. One to bookmark for the future if you see anything else on there you like 👍

    Daiwa emblem br25a

Really good price on them here at the moment considering i paid about £75 each for mine: https://www.protackleshop.co.uk/en5/okuma-aventa-baitfeeder-reels/s/760 It's a legit site too, used them before

Comparable to a 4012 Daiwa, think TDR with a baitrunner.

Okuma Aventa Baitfeeders in 5000 or 6000 size. Try them, you won't look at Daiwa or Shimano again 😉

    OCD and fishing.

My peg looks like an explosion went off in a tackle shop 😳

    Trent day ticket nottingham

LEVAS full members ticket is only £35 but means you can fish below cranfleet lock (opposite Thrumpton) day/night. This stretch produces good fish.

    Carp gear for Barbel

I've never felt the need to go heavier than my 2lb greys prodigies. So I'd probably try and convince a carper to go for that or 1.75lb.

    Boilies.

Exclusively roll and fish my own HNV boilies. Off the shelf mainstream boilies have never done much for me.

    First Barbel.....not a bad start!

Well done, potential fish of a lifetime. My PB is only a paltry 12lb 8oz so beating it should be achievable 🙂

    Darent valley landung net pole.

Just needs christening now with a double 😉

    Darent valley landung net pole.

Tackle box is a bit heavier and floppyer than the drennan but mechanism more reliable and more robust.
