Fair comment Richard,but problem I can see if you have the legs too close together is stability same as with all tripods,wider the legs more stable the whole thing is.Unless you can really drive the legs in to the ground.
Not read all of this thread, top marks to Richard for pointing it out,but could the problem not also be sorted out by using korum tilt head rod rest heads or there tilt alarms

Used mine tonight,no barbel just chub.The lights are bright,but I like that,possibly yes they are too sensitive,but could possibly alert you to a sensitive bite you maybe would have missed otherwise???

Just been having a play with mine on my 1.75 korum rods,the fit and look fine not to big or intrusive at all.Lit them up and from my garden tests it seems mine ned a sharp movement to change colour ,I tried slow movements on the rod tip like you get from the flow and they didn't change...
Iv only done the same with mine,but like gerry said mine seem to need a definite sharp movement to activate,going tontry them on a feeder rod soon when I get chance.
