    Making your own bait.

I laughed at the reference to garlic essential oil earlier - particularly effective if you want to get divorced.... Bloody good ingredient though. Annoyingly I have misplaced all my old recipes but one drop of the garlic oil to a 10oz mix (other flavours, etc used too) was perfect.

    Rucksacks

With respect Richard, you can manhandle a rucksack in a tackle shop (and I do) but unless you can fill it full of your tackle and then walk across a couple of fields with it in your fishing gear a few times, you're not going to know for sure whether it's THE ONE for you. I'm sure we have all...

    Rucksacks

Hi Robert, Take a look at the Ridgemonkey 40L rucksack. Like you I invariably rove and have gone through more rucksacks than I care to remember. I'm in my first season of using the Ridgemonkey but so far I am very happy with it. Steve

    Fishing line change

It depends Chris, if I go to the Wye I tend to change it after each (2 or 3 day) trip. Otherwise it will depend on the swims I am fishing, so if the line has been rubbing on woodwork or rocks, it gets changed. It is very simple to see or feel line that needs changing and I will always err on...

Upper Bristol Avon, post demolishing the weir

That was a depressing watch. Fished the BA last summer (pre-heatwave) for old times' sake and was amazed at both the lack of flow and how neglected the river looked (this was at Lacock). Had some lovely perch but won't be rushing back anytime soon...
