    A new low

I’ve had swans fighting to eat my dead bait on lomond! That was a shock 😂

Quivers with sleeves or any other options!?

I use these for my pike rods and would happily recommend them. Have protected my rods well and once you are on the banks they fold up nice and small so don’t get in the way whilst moving. Plus they all clip together so are easy to carry. The ESP ones are good too but don’t have the additional...

Mass bankside tree removal by farmers?

The EA did this on a couple of my local fen rivers quite a few years ago, as they were weakening the banks. Took every tree out along miles of river banks

    Polarized glasses

One thing to remember with glass lenses is they can be heavy, and it tells after awhile. Ive got a fair few pairs, from cheap ones up to Maui Jim’s, rayban, bolles and Costa’s and spending money definitely improves them, and they last better and offer better protection. Costa’s maybe edge it...

Items you have purchased to use while fishing without paying carp tax

I was going to mention this one too; I’ve got the Trakker one and it’s an excellent stove and that one is very clearly the same one. Think mine is going strong after 5 years, great in winter too.

    Fishtec closing down?

From my understanding, they aren’t closing down but are no longer going to sell all the different brands, so will be concentrating on their own gear/brand. the airflo brand has been sold but they will still be running it all. The main company have always been quite diverse in what they sell...

    catching tench

Worms have been my most successful method the last few years, I use a quick stop and cut large dendras in half and put four to six half’s on and then use a maggot feeder stuffed with chopped worm and some maggots; either inline or heli style. On one water I fished it was all I caught on. Fake...

    Until 15 June

Tench and rudd will be my main targets, with some carp fishing as well when I just want to chill. The tench fishing is some of my favourite of the year. But as above, god knows what the next few months have in store for us and I can see it getting in the way of fishing

    Tench rods

Aye £150 would be cheapish with what they sometimes go for, but that’s the max I’d really pay. a set would be great, at present I use an 11ft torrix, a shimmy tribal specialist and then a Kevlar rod, all very different rods. My brothers ocd hates it lol

    Tench rods

It’s hard to tell due to a lack of them, as you say. Personally think £150 for a near new one would be about right, but with eBay it’s impossible to tell.

    Tench rods

Yeah I do. ive seen that one thanks, watching it with interest.

    Tench rods

If I could get a pair of Kevlar/kevlex in good condition I’d be chuffed, but they’re a rare thing.

    Tench rods

Thanks joe, hear nothing but good things about the chimeras. Maybe I should just take all that advice

    Tench rods

They are perfect for it, though I use the 1.75 top. If I could get another two in either perfect condition or at a decent price I’d be chuffed with them. its casting potential that concerns me most, but if the Kevlar can throw a 45g maggot feeder 60 yards I’m sure the free spirits will too...

Fish you have seen that have blown you away but never caught

It was an eel for me; was watching a bunch of upper 20lb carp feeding under some bushes on a large gravel pit in Cambridgeshire, when I saw part of an eel on the edge of the clearing. could only see about 2ft of it, and didn’t see the end of its fins, it was as round as my arm. Looked like a...

    Tench rods

Yeah I’ve seen those, thanks. Both look like nice builds too actually brought a pair of chimeras off eBay last summer that turned out to be in terrible condition and even had someone’s name on them which wasn’t mentioned on the listing. Got my money back but it was a hassle, pitfalls of eBay I...

    Tench rods

afternoon fellas, long term lurker, first time poster here, and have seen that a number of you use Free Spirit rods and I’m In the market for some new tench rods for larger gravel pits, mostly the bawburgh complex at present. Considering either the S or the hi-S SU models or a Harrison chimera...
