Prussian carp are not just in Lincs they are in Cheshire as well at a commercial very close to me... the EA are trying to work out where they are, but currently say brown goldfish are a bigger menace to crucian than Prussians ATM

By the way there's some debate if Crucians are actually native to the UK. They may well have been imported in the middle ages alongside brown goldfish as another fish to breed for food (alongside carp) and also for ornamentation.

I prefer the 1.5lb TC version it has a bit more backbone IMO. But it depends on how big the chub are and snags etc. I use this for hook and hold fishing using 8lb mainline.
I read somewhere that the colour red appears black below a certain depth. Maybe that's why red maggots work well. For me another thing to bear in mind is that thicker abrasion resistant lines reduce casting distance & accuracy. Which may be important in some circumstances
I'm not sure how driving to the river and fishing all day on my own is dangerous. Especially when I go to work 5days a week and mix with folks from a wide area. My job can't be done at home BTW.
