I use braid mainline on the Trent when it's carrying lots of extra water, I think the lower diameter provides less resistance in the increased flow than my usual mono, and with a heavier breaking strain. I always use a fluoro abrasion leader with it too.
The banks will be a bit soggy, to say the least for a bit too, once it's bank within it's banks. It's the same across the country though isn't it! The Trent is a right mess. I was by Ringwood earlier in the week and the Avon looked pretty bad also.
It's due to peak tonight sometime at Ross. We've got a spell of dry and settled weather on the way, but it's going to be cold, probably too bloody cold fish once we can get close enough to the rivers!
