Korum waist trotting tray, Is this a good or dumb idea?

These were the ones I had made Chris. I did mention it to Paul Fisk last year about resurrecting some of the Lone Angler products without the LA logo as CA are happy to make the bespoke orders , it needs a small tackle dealer to take on as CA won’t add to their current products 3 of us split...

Korum waist trotting tray, Is this a good or dumb idea?

Looks a lot better thought out one than the Korum one Richard . , I still can’t see why they insist on taking tackle boxes into mid river on theirs ! I like the use of Robert’s Butt grip rests !

Korum waist trotting tray, Is this a good or dumb idea?

I would hate to watch all my bait and tackle boxes etc fall off and float away down river - totally under thought product , just like the trotting stand that fits to a tri pod , a bit of flow would wash that away too. It’s good a company thinks about specialist anglers , but give us gear...

Ray Walton rolling pin & rod combo question.

I use a Mark Tunley Dark Carbon 1.75 which has a great action for touch legering and rolling meat. I use it with a MK2 RW Pin , which did develop an issue with the locking mechanism , Chris Miles said to send it in to him in Tewkesbury and he would sort it , as it was out of warranty I expected...

    Barbel Show 2024

Would be nice to see a few more tackle companies on the trade stands -Drennan are reportedly bringing out new Barbel rods to replace the Martin Bowlers this year , where better than a Barbel Show to promote new gear ! But they don’t really promote their gear at shows which is a shame

    Mark Tunley specialist multi tip

I used a 13’6 Specialist Float on the Wye all last season and was so impressed with the rod. A real pleasure to use , standing all day , it’s so light you don’t notice it , and the power of the rod has to be seen to be believed. I had loads of Barbel to 12lb 6oz on the rod in really fast runs...

    Making your own bait.

Tried it myself , but always reverted back to old favourites like Sticky Krill as a change bait and saw no real difference in catch rates. I don’t bother now , I just use Vortex cocoons and special hookbaits now along with their pellets , catches just as many as before. My boilie making kit...

    If you could only have......

Mark Tunley 13’6 Specialist Float - Stunning Rod and a pleasure to use especially for Barbel on the Wye Mark Tunley Dark Carbon Specialist 12’ 1.75 for Barbel , so good I replaced my Drennan Martin Bowlers with a pair of them - never thought I’d find a better rod , but the Dark Carbon’s are...

    New centrerpin

I’ve been using the RW Rolling pin for trotting and legering for barbel for a few seasons now , they’re so good , so easy to use , well worth the investment. The new lightweight green ones are stunning

Thread end Drennan twist lock landing net repair

I had the same on my first one. The carbon rivet snapped. I just drilled it through and put a new small nut and bolt through , thread locked it and taped it over. Never a problem since

Been using Optilabs for about 20 years now. Always good service and a bigger choice of frames now.

    Vehicle of choice

Mitsubishi L200. Agricultural but plenty of power and 35 mpg , it goes anywhere i fish on the Wye and Trent and with M+S tyres + low range 4x4 will have to do something really silly to get it stuck. I’ve had 2 now and with a sport top on the back carries everything for a long stay session...

J W Young Reels, History, Assembly and Use

Great company to deal with , I had a problem with an original MK 1 Rolling Pin where the locking mechanism started to loosen causing the drum to wobble Thus was bought before Chris took over the company himself , but he said send it in , and repaired the reel for free , all it cost me was...

Opinions on a starter centrepin and line advice

A great line that I found by accident is Sufix Duraflex. Its very low diameter for its bs. 6lb diameter is 10lb bs and it’s really supple and surprisingly abrasion resistant I ended up fishing straight through with no issue at all with spooking fish. Really good for chub and barbel.

    Float rods

I used the Mark Tunley rod all last summer for barbel , trotting floats in 6-10g range in very fast deeper runs on the Wye and found it an absolute pleasure to use , at no time did it feel uncomfortable or undergunned , it was as gold with chub to over 6lb on trotted meat and having my biggest...

    Float rods

I tried the glide rod and found the tip ring needed replacing as it’s a cheap unsupported tip , Couldn’t get on with the rod for long so gave it to a friend to use for occasional float fishing. , for all my chub and barbel float fishing I use a Mark Tunley 13’6 specialist float now . So...

Fishing the swim next to someone

Definitely sounds like he’s used to that spot for himself. Trying to drive you off with the annoying noisy bite alarm trick. Just have to accept that he’s prebaiting for you. A bit of extra attractor in the bait might draw them up from his spot 😁😁
