    Old bite indicators

As Tim M. mentioned,… aquarium tube interlocked to approx 1 1/2” dia with some split shot rammed inside to register drop backs slid over piano wire needle. Worked well for years back in the day.

D.Stour in the mist and gloom this morning, not great for photography but promising for a fish in the mild temps.

The best thing you’ve seen whilst fishing

Yes it’s a pity about not being able to post videos. I meant to add some text to that kingfisher pic saying it was a screenshot from your great little video.

The best thing you’ve seen whilst fishing

Non of us are getting any younger G. but I hope we can all meet up again whether it be Dorset or Ross. The ‘mates’ pics will always be my favourites even if it means me spending more time peering through a viewfinder than watching tip or float!

The best thing you’ve seen whilst fishing

To difficult to pick one specific favourite occasion whilst fishing,.. there’s been so many that I’ll always remember. Wildlife being the most common but also angling mates, special sunsets and misty dawns linger in the memory. It’s why I started to record some of those moments in time a few...

    Decent roving umbrella recommendations please?

Agreed Trevor,… I thought the name ‘super lite’ was stretching it a bit! Super lite compared with a blacksmith’s anvil perhaps? I’ve used the River brolly for a while,.. it just about fits into my old Korum 2 rod quiver which is a plus as I really hate the 5 rod version which just gathers dust...

    Cows

This Hereford bull was on its own but there was another herd across the river. It walked along the bank towards me then stopped about 30 yards away and went down on his front legs and started to rub his face in the dirt. Having never seen this before I picked up the camera and started taking...

    Cows

I’ve a healthy respect for livestock that we share fishing venues with,.. they’re often unpredictable. As with most river anglers, there’s umpteen tales to tell ,.. kinda go’s with the territory but ultimately it’s a gamble on how cattle, bulls and horses accept your company and what mode...

Ha,.. sorry Bill, should have explained more thoroughly. A prime lens has a fixed focal length,.. they can’t be zoomed in or out which means they’re not flexible,… but generally give better image quality. Fx is Nikon’s lens mount type which is found on their older cameras which use a mechanical...

David Bailey…lol😂 I currently use 2 Nikon cameras Bill,… my old d500 and a pro z8 mirrorless . Lenses are usually 24-70mm f2.8 zoom,…300mm f4 PF and 500mm f5.6 PF primes which are all fx so I use an ftz adapter on the z8 which works fine. I don’t take them all out with me especially when I’m...

We see so much when fishing,… that’s why I took up photography to try and capture those magical moments in time. Wished I’d learned how to use a camera much earlier,…. all those missed opportunities ( 50 years worth). I’m on the riverbanks most days so the percentage factor means I can fluke a...
