Ali has aimed 95% of his marketing at the new anglers who fished over stocked puddles and have probably never tried any other type of fishing. The thing that i can’t stand is all the complete backside kissing he gets for every post which seems to be from people in their 50’s upwards. It’s like...
The action is a lot more through action which i prefer especially on the kennet, can really lock the rod up and pressure fish away from snags and i just have a lot more confidence that i won’t get a hook pull under maximum pressure. Also find the tip a bit more sensitive than a torrix.
Personally preferred the freespirit barbel seeker 11 foot blanks, had the 1.5, 1.75 and 2lb torrix blank and a custom made barbel seeker is cheaper than a off the shelf one for some reason.
Thanks Bob, have read that thread several times over. Just wondering what people think of them in actual use. Did you ever compare it to a 11 fooot torrix blank?
Looking at getting a twin tip 11 foot with an Evoke blank made up. Haven’t heard much about the blanks, seen a few comments on here about them. Just looking for any opinions / reviews on them please. Thanks
No unfortunately not. There will be no more 10’6 so i’m told. I missed out on an offer of having the last blank built because i missed the email. Bloody annoyed with myself!
Really like the seeker su blanks, just a shame the factory builds are very hit and miss quality wise. Had a 1.5, 1.75 and 2lb 11 foot torrix and just don’t like the blank in any weight for some reason (however i also prefer freespirit carp rods to harrison). Have now got a seeker su built by...
Never owned a gti but had a very love hate relationship with a torrix. Always prefer more though action rod, over the last 12 years had 2x1.75’s made, a 1.5 and a 2lb with different builds but never gelled with the blank. Much prefer freespirit barbel seeker su blanks but never liked the...
Definitely check build times. I’ve had several rods made one was quoted 12-14 weeks and it took nearly 7 months, others was told 6-8 weeks and it took 20. Others have been spot on at anywhere between 4-8 weeks.
From what i can tell on the whatsapp group, lovely stretch of river, lots of barbel and lot of low doubles in there. Nothing huge from what i’ can tell. Had the ticket for the last 6 years and fished it 3 times, had them up to low doubles. Most probably going to drop it this year though as nice...
Thanks chaps some useful tips there. Did try it today but with the river 6 foot up and really pushing through wasn’t the best idea. will see if i can order a copy of the John Wilson book, always liked his writing.
Have never tried link ledgering. Have had people tell me to do it when going for chub or barbel, but have never got my head round the moving bait. Do i need to let line put as it goes? What’s the best way to do it? I liken it to the various times i’ve attempted rolling meat, before i know it...
Having a clear out. Have so many rods, a lot i’ve never used as i just have my favourites so am getting rid of some. Don’t have time to post, so happy to meet Reading, Bracknell, Oxford, Basingstoke way, except medium feeder that’s meet only in Reading.
