Based on numerous years fishing the often rocky edges of the tidal Trent and the Humber in winter for cod the Shakespeare salt with a home made flat alloy bar to accommodate whatever bite alarms you use takes some beating. Placing a bungee strap on the back leg with a couple of pegs gives a...
Shimano purist are fine and won't break the bank either, my older 13 ft korum is still doing the business, but was let down badly by the 13 ft big river rod that always felt like a poker.
Crap plastic feeders and a very brittle spopper,13 ft korum barbel rod is still going strong and the fastmat is a great product just watch for use in wind as a mates mat was blown away somewhere down the tidal Trent in the wee small hours.
The cost to most non sponsored anglers is a no go . I reckon I loose about a dozen plus feeders on the tidal Trent and maybe a few more breakaway leads on the Humber and it does piss me off that I have to buy more. Imagine multiplying that by a few hundred every season.
pallatrax grips wide gape for me I found size 6 get used a lot recommended by a fellow angler and don't get stuck in clothes or vegatation at silly o'clock on the tidal Trent either .
Shimano 13ft purist wont break the bank , my korum big river rod snapped the end off a while back , whilst the much older 13ft korum barbel rod still going strong after a few years of tidal trent abuse and the single leg rings ate still not knackered.
Second hand IMAX floatation suit,I had the bib and braces on when I fell in the tidal a couple of years ago and managed to clamber out ,and various layering of thinner base layers such as karrimor has kept me warm all winter on the Trent and the Humber .
Then there is the kidology of legends in thee own back yards flogging some product . I fished a session recently near a know it all who was bragging about £400 quid rods and a £600 quid bite alarm. He was one of the breed of Bait slaves who has a product to sell and numerous comic book films to...
Get up early and have a good look around your local good sized car boot ,although not sticky pins as both have bearings, at £20 for the solid alloy one,and a mere £10 for the black one ,with both having nice drag adjusters these are great bits of kit and not a name stamped on either.
Being a former postie , I do think that some of the spools get bashed around as a jiffy bag is what they usually come in as well as inferior plastic penny pinching. Thanks Brian I will make one of those spool holders, it will save me running around the grass outside or getting tangled around a...
Yes Brian both spools I would assume we're new as they had the plastic wrapping and the brown elastic band .Although it would be nice to have a date somewhere when it was made. Like a lot of things slight tweeks to save money in making the line spools, not a good idea as some are not fit for...
I have had a couple of Hyper spools that have had 1/2 of one of the round flat ends broken off l assumed it was damaged in transit, no problem with the line and use sensor sea line for cod fishing in winter as well .
Get my 2 piece 15ft sea rod in yeti, and Al the other gubbings for a overnighter on the Trent, often I don't even remove back seats either and 4x4 comes in handy but still drives like a car on normal roads.
Superb hooks ,can unhook without a pair of forceps and stay sharp after a battering on the tidal not lost many since ditching the fox hooks that sadly are not a patch on Gripz .
