The tips are just right, soft enough for bite detection but not bent round when there's some flow on. The action is progressive with a lot of power in the butt section. I prefer that action to all through.

I bought my lad the 11ft version. It is a very good rod for the money, much better than my earlier Fox rods. Nice big rings and not too many. With the 2.25 top on it will lob a 6oz feeder no problem.
He uses it with a Shimano 4000DL reel (the one under the XT) which is a great reel for...
As there seems to be some doubt, I have just used google earth to find the exact distance I was throwing is 73 yards. Check out the review on here by Mike Berridge on the Peregrine flood rod, he is fishing the same peg and throws a 5oz feeder 15 yards onto the far bank ...

Andrew, I was torn between 10 or 12 for the tip but the match man in me couldn't quite make the leap to 12 so went for 10. Far better to have weed on the reel and a fish in the net in my opinion.
For me the rods feel best with a 4oz feeder on just as my 1.75s feel perfect with 2.5oz on, as such...
I have just had a pair of Torrix built and I am over the moon with them. Lovely playing action and I have no worries about fishing a strong size 10 wide gape hook on a 10lb hooklink to 12lb main. I was casting 6oz feeders 80 yards the other week. Think about ring sizes with all that weed on the...
US spec 12lb Big Game is probably the same diameter and strength as many other brands rated at 15lb (it actually breaks nearer 18lb!).
Better to go on diameters like match anglers do rather than rely on BS.
Hi Danny
I fish the same rivers in the same conditions and have looked into this in great depth. The 2.5 torrix is really a carp blank and not really suitable for throwing much more than the 1.75s I have. Your only choices that I know of for genuine 8oz ability is the Tunley 3lb flood, the...
Can't see the point of a quiver top on a flood rod so the new rod makes much more sense to me. Would rather pay for one good top than have to pay for one I don't need. I bought my lad the 11ft FX and it looks much better than the earlier rods to me with a Fuji reel seat and fewer, bigger eyes. I...
I searched for a stalker rod for my lad, looked at the peregrine and the Teme Severn but ended up getting him the new 11ft Fox FX 1.75/2.25. Really impressed with it, much better than my older Fox rods and spec not unlike my custom build rods.

I have seen this issue before.
On my "Made in USA" spooled line:
0.011" diameter is rated 8lb (breaks at about 12lbs)
0.012" diameter is rated 10lb (breaks at about 15lbs)
0.014" diameter is rated 12lb (breaks at about 18lbs)
I have seen the genuine stuff in shops at Chapmans...
