    Centrepin line issues.

Never had that happen. How much line are you spooling up with? Sounds like it’s bedding in and, as you quite rightly surmise, sticking. Maybe as a result of too much line on the drum?

    Drennan rod socks.

Good idea! I use the NGT ones too and they’re wide enough that I can fit all three sections of a twin tip rod in, which I find handy. Some other I’ve had have been too tight to be able to do this.

So I've finally decided to retire ...

You’re so wasteful, that’s still got plenty of life left in it! 😉

    Winter is coming

Plenty of sense in that adage, as I’ve found that if you suffer from cold hands (as I do) then it ain’t going to make blind bit of difference what gloves you wear. You’ll still have cold hands so you may as well wear a hat. However, I’m a big fan of the Whitby/peacock hand warmer and I’ve just...

Korda camo bolt and run rigs,

Well, mad bad, I guess, if it is a Korum product but the opening poster has called the item in question a Korda Camo Bolt And Run rig, so naturally, I assumed it to be made by Korda. Daft of me, I know, but such is life. Hmmm indeed. Hence why I said depending on who you listen too. Clearly...

Korda camo bolt and run rigs,

I was wondering the same here. Apart from the fact that the running link fits over the bead (allegedly….. depending on who you listen too…..) then it seems very little difference from what I already use: a quick change running link buffered by a large swivel bead. Same amount of knots, same...

    Weight

Chuffin’ nora! What sort of distances have you been lumping all this around? Honestly mate, i feel like I’m weighing myself down if I even take a small radio with me these days. Mind you, recent health issues have done wonders to concentrate my attention on such things and I now pursue weight...

Korda camo bolt and run rigs,

Well I share your sentiments about clipping up and more often than not I just use simple running rigs like a John Robert’s link or such like. Surely though the whole point of this is to do what is says on the tin. Maybe it should be just called a Korda Camo Run Rig?

Korda camo bolt and run rigs,

Will the bolt still work if you do that though or does it just become a running rig?

    Speedia ratchet pin

Ok, this is where it starts to get a bit more complicated. I vaguely recall doing this now, about ten years ago with one of mine. Turning the pawl over will not achieve what you want it to. All that you change doing this is the angle at which the pawl point comes into contact with the wheel ie...

    Oiling a cork handle

No point being in the closet in these more enlightened times. Still a brave admission though.👍

For reference this shows mine in the engaged position.

    Speedia ratchet pin

Garry Mills for the replacement pawl but if it’s not showing any wear then I’d guess that the problem is nothing to do with the pawl and might be more to do with the spring or the lever.

    Speedia ratchet pin

Sounds like the pawl might have been turned around. Put a photo up and somebody might be able to tell you what to do.

Varnished cork, in all its glory.

    Oiling a cork handle

this is why I use P320 silicone carbide. Sand very lightly and It’s so fine that it just sands the grime off the surface rather than removing any cork material. I’ve done this with over 30 rods and have yet to have any reel bands become too loose to hold the reel tightly.

    Oiling a cork handle

Ditto! This is me too. I absolutely detest having my hands all caked up with crappy ground bait. I don’t go to the lengths of having wet wipes in the van to clean handles, it now you mention it I just might start to….🙄 To be fair though I find that my rod handles don’t get to mucky when I’m...

    Oiling a cork handle

yes, I have an early Wilson Avon that looks like the handle was made up of old wine bottle corks. Absolute crap, but then they were made down to a price rather than up to a standard. By comparison, a Hardy LRH that I also own has the most sublime handle I’ve ever seen. Super slim and the...
