So, there is a lot of controversy amongst anglers regarding the use of unhooking mats.
There are anglers who no matter what type of suitable ground is available to lay a fish on they insist on using a mat.
Personally, I am in the frame of mind that the use of a mat is down to commons sense...
I'm going to part with one of the above float rods and thought i'd test the water on here before advertising elsewhere.
The rod is in excellent condition as is all my gear due to me looking after it!
I've used the rod to target barbel, chub, grayling and anything between down to minows.
These...
I have a excellent pretty much as new 13ft tricast John Allerton match waggler for sale.
I bougt this rod brand new from a tackle shop and it has been used by myself. On the limited times i've been out and used it i've caught dace, chub, roach, grayling and barbel.
The rod is very light and...
Are there any other fans of John Searls art work here on bfw?
I'm very much a fan of his work, but unfortunately I only have one "propper print" of his, the barbel one.
I did look out for his prints on ebay, fb etc but when any of them came up for grabs they were too much money for me.
I got...
As above, this a unused reel, mint condition.
As with most of my reels I have doubles so I won't miss this one if it goes, plenty of others for me to go at lol.
Price is 220 posted.
Not a lot to say really, the pictures should speak for the reel....
As above, i'm letting this mint example go due to having about another 30 or more centrepins and have more on order 🤪.
Anyhow, this reel is a lovely looking reel and works perfectly.
I've used this reel a couple of times but it is as new.
Price...220 posted.
Check out the pic's as the best part...
So, i''m going to let a Greys Bewick go.
I've used this reel several times but I look after all my gear and it is still in as new condition.
It's a 4inch reel and is a true centrepin reel, so no bearings.
It really is a lovely reel and the ratchet button is positioned in the best possible plae...
So, I have a pair of the above in super condition and as far as I know they have never been used. They are in their original bags which are in perfect condition same as the rods.
I got these rods many years ago for piking using dead baits but never used them due to using another set I had in...
As above, the box has come appart, not ripped, I think the glue holding it together has just died of old age. This has happened whilst the scales have been in my possession and stored away.
Here's some pictures so people know exactly what their condition is....
I've never taken...
...they are my all time favourite hooks for trotting for all species including barbel and chub.
I've just clocked this on youtube ....
They do look very interesting and I am looking forward to getting some and giving them a go to see how they compare to the original superspade hooks which I...
I very rarely ever use stick floats and have loads so i'm gonn'a let these ones go if anyone wants them. There may be a couple of marks on them but I can't remember ever using any of them. There are some drennan and some woodys floats, plus some Steve Maher wire stemmed sticks amongst them...
I have a pair of the above, unused and boxed which i'm selling for a good friend of mine. He bought them about 6 months back and never even bothered to try them on. He had a day up on conniston yesterday but when he got the wellies out they don't fit him, so they have never actually been used...
When I go float fishing for barbel I often walk several miles of river whilst doing so. Because of this I like to take as little as possible, but not so little as to be stuck for something.
For years I searched for the best thing to carry my gear in, trying waist pouches, small rucksacks, fly...
I had planned on having a day trotting for barbel today, but unfortunately that river was too high to wade out so the barbel fishing session was aborted.
I decided to visit another river where I could fish from the bank and target chub. The chub in this river are experts at getting into the...
.....I have a pair of them, brand spanking new and unused from new. The rods have a solid top section and also have a quiver section and various quivers. These rods really do look and feel fantastic. Despite having owned them for a number of years i've never got round to using them due to 99%...
