Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing CHRISTMAS SPECIAL

Catch of the year was a particular highlight! Much more entertaining than when the Grand Tour visited the Lofoten Islands - that show really is pretentious, self indulgent junk. Dave

    global warming

I don’t know about anybody else but we could certainly do with a bit of global warming down here on the South Coast at present!😉 We’ve even had a walrus turn up on one of our local beaches! Dave

A little bit of tidying up.

Looks like we’re back to the bad old days of the 60s & 70s when this kind of ‘improvement’ was the norm. 😡🤬😡 Dave

    Chub rod

If you can’t get it fixed,I would recommend the Drennan Series 7 Specialist Avon Quiver 1.25lb. An excellent bit of kit with plenty of backbone but a forgiving tip or quiver tips, if preferred. Dave

    H Avon/ D Stour condition?

No problem, Kevin. Hope that all goes well and that you manage to get a few good fish from our wonderful local rivers. As Neil said, the HA rises (and falls) more slowly than the Stour, which is more akin to a spate river. Dave

    H Avon/ D Stour condition?

Latest Avon Diary entry should give you a good idea of the Avon levels in the Ibsley area. Stour is high and still rising with plenty of water yet to come down from the upper reaches. Based on the Throop level of 0.93m, the river will be overtopping in places but would still be fishable...

    Longest held ticket.

Found them. First one is actually from 1969, so I was close. That first year cost me 5 guineas (£5.25) and it rose sharply to £7.50 in 1975, £9 in1977 and £10 in 1978. We did, of course, have proper inflation in those days (which seems to be with us again now - but only temporarily I hope!)...

    Longest held ticket.

Think I’ve still got all my old membership tickets somewhere. If I can find them, I’ll put a photo of the oldest one on here… It will be for Ringwood and will date from around 1968, if memory serves me correctly. Blimey, have I really been a member for over 50 years…. Dave

    What is fishing?

If it’s not a sport, where do match angling and all the other competitions fit in? It’s all three really depending on the individual angler’s approach but I also agree with Cliff that it is a passion. Dave

    Fox Specialist Brolly Bargain

Fair enough Gerry but Yodel’s customer service (or lack thereof) is appalling. When I eventually received the results of their investigation, they stated categorically that the driver has delivered the parcel to the correct address. The GPS data that AD obtained and forwarded to me, was quite...

    Fox Specialist Brolly Bargain

Amazingly, there was a happy ending. Having received a copy of the GPS data for the delivery from AD, we knew where the parcel had been photographed and that house is just over the road and visible from ours. What is more, when we looked, there was the parcel still propped against the door, 21...

    Fox Specialist Brolly Bargain

Derek, close but no cigar. EVRi is the reincarnation of Hermes. Still pretty useless though! Dave

    Fox Specialist Brolly Bargain

Well, you had better luck than me Jon. I also ordered mine on Friday morning and was surprised when Yodel said it would be delivered the next day via their tracking site. As Iwas not going to be in and had nobody else to wait in for it, I rescheduled the delivery for Monday.… As luck would...

    Fox Specialist Brolly Bargain

Update. Fox still list the brolly on their site at £124.99 RRP so it must just be that AD are no longer stocking it. Dave

    Fox Specialist Brolly Bargain

I’ve had a problem with Yodel delivering my brolly from AD. They couldn’t find my house and sent it back to AD. I have to say that Yodel’s customer service is appalling. AD have stepped in to resolve the issue and they have been great but they did say that the Fox brolly is now not only out of...

    Photos of river scenes

Maggot fishing perhaps?😉 Could be an indicator of a hard winter to come if the robins are seeking food before the first frosts…. Dave

    Korum Supalite River Brolly

Just ordered one - a no brainer at that price.😊👍 Dave

Catch Cult 31 including Trent barbel!

I‘m sure you’ll enjoy it Zachary. It’s a quality production and a great read, with a wide range of topics to suit all specialisations. 😊 I’ve been reading it since the first issue and there hasn’t been a dud yet.👍 Dave

Tacklebox skeletal rod sleeves for 12’ rods x3 as new SOLD

Will they take barbel rods (generally have shorter handles than carp rods) or are they designed for carp style rods? Just asking to make sure that they are okay for use with 12’ barbel rods? 😉 Dave

    Unhooking mats and Weigh Sling

Although that is not recommended after you have had a hectic session!😂😂 Excellent weigh sling though - I’ve had mine for years now. It is not suited for larger (longer) fish though - I’ve got an Advanta one that fits that bill even if I have only had to use it on meat caught pike so far….😔 Dave
