    Baits of Yesteryear

Bought the big cheese base mix from him/there a year or two back, just browsing the tincaberry range now, the tench should be waking up on my syndi', I usually go down the maggot feeder route but last season didn't produce as good as previous seasons for one reason or a suspected other. I'll...

    Baits of Yesteryear

Nutrabaits cranberry nutrafruit was a good bait for me, carp and tench loved it. Not sure if you can still get it but never seen it for years. Also the meaty marine stick mix in a tin.

Wanted Korum total protection 2 rod quiver

I have what I believe is the original model, a solid black plastic base and the rest similar to what Richard labelled the later model. Just heading out to watch Boro' v Millwall, I'll post a pic later.

    best closed face reels

Bought my 123 in 1993 along with a Silstar tradition match 13' for trotting the Anker around Atherstone when I moved back to the midlands for a year. I thought that rod was the absolute dogs dangly bits after using an old thing I had as a schoolboy for years.

    Rod builders

If you want a fishing rod and not an ornament, Dave Lumb, not knocking any others (I can't, having no experience of them) but Dave makes a good rod, he'll build it to your preferred spec regarding rings, Cork etc. I've had quite a lot of rods made by Dave and all are excellent.

    Carp fishing Fluorocarbon mainline

What exactly are you looking for out of FC line? If it's the "invisibility" factor, don't get sucked into the hype, it's just as visible in any lake or river water than any other line, insofar as, when it's been immersed for a while, it looks like a marine washing line with all sorts of...

    Selling tackle

Market place is good if you use a bit of common sense, cash on collection or before posting. I sold a motorbike on MP a few years ago, the lad came, looked, bought the bike subject to test ride, transferred me the money on the understanding that if he damaged the bike he bought it, if he didn't...

You Can't Catch Barbel On The Float In Winter.....

As far as I'm concerned it was a very negative comment, also quite hypocritical as is your last sentence in your quote above. Does your quarry have any say in the matter when you drag it form its' natural habitat? Is the grass Ian laid his fish on any more of a sharp object than the hook in...

You Can't Catch Barbel On The Float In Winter.....

I've been looking in since the "negative" post, waiting for a response by, hopefully Ian but also any other member. All I can say is; well restrained Ian!

    Cheap pins

Yeah, I saw that a while back. I reckon with modern CNC machining, it would take a really bad machinist to knock out a reel that didn't perform modestly well. Taking into account most of them, including that one, are bearings.

    Cheap pins

Just had a spin of the NGT in my local shop. I don't know if I'm missing something but it seems perfectly usable to me and if the bearings aren't up to much for longevity, a simple fix down the line. It's light as a feather, no drag but a thumb would solve that and a positive feeling ratchet.

    Drennan specialist extension

Thanks for the input guys. I think it's going to be an acolyte 14' specimen. I already have a few float rods that will cover almost everthing, in fact, I think this is just going to be an indulgence perhaps when the new season starts.

    Drennan specialist extension

Anyone have any experience with one of these. I'm in the market for a rod specifically for trotting, I'd sort of settled on the 14ft acolyte specimen after handling one on the bank, had a waggle with the 15ft in the shop and also saw this. It feels good in the hand, will double up into equal...
