I do hope these companies bringing out these more recent power float rods start to understand, that 14ft isn’t the only length we want.
It’s getting a bit silly now.
You’ve got Normark throwing dolly sections in with 12 footers, Preston bringing out 1 power float at just 14ft and now daiwa...
Orrrrrrr hang on for a bit and see if normark releases those 15ft Avengers we’ve been waiting for. Judging by how the 13ft one feels I think they could be absolutely ideal for what you want.
I’d say the acolytes are realistically the best bet for you and your grayling sport with 3 x 15ft models all super light just pick the action most suited to your venue/species
I have the 14ft supera X from Preston and yes I’m a big fan. I haven’t tried the 15ft version as I was looking for the...
I also really like the way he attaches the line pillars too with the counter sink brass screws. It looks really nice.
You mentioned that you wondered how he gets the head slots in the screws to line up, it’s actually very easy to do because you’ll notice on the back flange that they probably...
The torrix 11ft 1.75 is a real gem mark. I’ve had 2 now for a good number of years and while the majority of my barbel are caught trotting floats nowadays, I still take the torrix’s out on the right days.
It is a medium/fast action as far as I’m concerned the back end is very steel lite and...
This change in carbon type from the weave to the plain finish is what makes a Torrix what it is in terms of action. It’s 2 different cloth types put together on the mandrel giving the Torrix this faster tip action and very steely mid to low.
If the carbon was 1k weave right to the tip it would...
Quite agree Jon.
I do get it for larger rivers where the extra length is useful for various things like casting at distance or skypodding etc but for everything else it’s too long imo. 11ft just seems to make more sense
Pricey yes but nice one daiwa at least they are listening because those flimsy sea guides are the only reason i didn’t keep mine.
The handle looks awesome too. Love the eva section on the back, love the full cork hood and i really like the back cap too.
Proper job.
Now they just need to work...
I religiously use the fig8 aswell Cliff especially with all my float fishing hook lengths and find it to be a reliable knot but certainly one that needs snugging up very gingerly.
Double overhand loop is another that can be very strong but personally I just stick with the fig8
