Anyone had any scary/paranormal experiences on the bank?

I imagine it might be this? From 0:36...

    What's the forecast.

My local forecast is usually far more benign when I look at the BBC app as compared to the Met Office. They're often both wrong, though...

    New footwear for winter recommendations

I bought a pair of those too and agree the quality is good for the price - the sizing is massive, though! I ordered a size 12, which fits me perfectly in every other make of boot or shoe I've had previously, but these needed several pairs of socks/insoles before they were remotely safe to walk...

    Hook choice???

Another vote for the Grapplers - I've landed a couple of tench recently on them that would certainly have been lost on the barbless patterns I've used until recently. Both times, I couldn't stop the fish reaching bed of lilies, but the old trick of slackening off and hoping they'd swim free...

    Tench 2022

6lb tench and 6lb bream from a local estate lake today. :)

    Back in the 80s...

My first Mitchell 300 was bought mail order from Billy Knott, aka The Penzance Pirate. There were dire warnings back then (1979) that mail order discounters would spell the end for your local tackle shop...

    Waterproof Recommendations

Surely it's DPM (Disruptive Pattern Material), referring to the camouflage, isn't it?🤔

    Korum’s customer care

I'm exactly the same - and not just where tackle is concerned. Little Egret Press seems to have cornered the market in the piublication of interesting-sounding angling books of late, but because the editing and layout of some of their earlier titles was so appalling, I've vowed to never buy...

    Korum’s customer care

Korum seem to be particularly poor about keeping/supplying spare parts for some of their products. I lost the nut and bolt fixing for one of the mudfeet on my Aeronium chair and asked if they could supply a replacement, as none in my extensive nut and bolt collection would fit. They said they...

    Chris Packham

My missus shared a house with some early-adopter vegans when she was at college back in the early '70s. They tried to feed their cat a vagan diet and it voted with its feet (paws?) - it ran away and they never saw it again!

    Chris Packham

I think he must have had a taxi waiting outside - choosing David Attenborough as his answer was always going to mean an exit in the first round!

    Perch fishing north west ?

I'd agree with the advice about bait vs lures. Since the first lockdown, I've never seen so many lure anglers on the canals. They did well to start with, but the perch have now wised up and are generally ignoring lures. They never wise up to worm or maggot, though.

    Korum areonium chairs

I have one of these chairs and my only complaint is the nut & bolt fittings for the mudfeet, which have a tendency to come loose and fall out if not checked regularly. Korum can't supply spares, so two of the mudfeet on mine are held on with stainless steel 'R' pins, which I think are an...

    Shelf life boilies

They seem to keep more or less indefinitely if covered in a glug in an airtight pot.

    Split Cane rods

They're certainly lovely rods, but have to be watched carefully for signs of delamination, to which they seem to be more prone than most other brands.

    Split Cane rods

Quite a few Wizard users complain that the rod feels unbalanced due to its comparatively short handle. The rod in its original design was meant to be used with the reel (usually a centre pin) positioned half-way down the handle. This was a common style at the time and meant the rod felt lighter...

    Split Cane rods

A pedant replies: Built cane and split cane are the same thing, surely? Did you mean to say "whole cane"? :)

    Split Cane rods

I think more of a boat or pier rod, so certainly not designed for casting very far!

    Split Cane rods

It was intended as a sea fishing rod - and the name Allcocks Climax usually produces a chortle or two amongst those with salacious minds...

    Split Cane rods

Another 12 footer that would be up to mid-size barbel is the Lee Aquila - on the same lines as the Chapman Hunter, but not so sought after and consequently a fair bit cheaper. I have both a Hunter and an Aquila and the actions are quite similar.
