Spoke to a very zealous and passionate guy this morning recruiting members for the Wildlife Trust.
He claimed that they were interested in protecting habitat and all wildlife including fish, I asked him how as an angler I could square being a member when they were promoting the...

That's the very one I have invested in - though if you shop around on the net you will find them for considerably less then £200 - if I recall mine was £120 and worth every penny.
Pretty weighty though so not ideal if you are roving.

Spot on Paul.
Chris - no not the Wye, my local river is the Teme but then it does run in to the much bigger Severn. Though I have to say my daylight sighting was the first in 4 seasons fishing this lovely river.

A month ago I had the pleasure of seeing an otter emerge from the river on to the far bank less than 20 metres away, where it went about its business for 35/40 seconds or so before slipping back into the river. I have to say it was captivating - during the whole of this time barbel and chub were...

Congratulations and well deserved. This is a model for others to learn from and its a pleasure to be involved as a member. A great way to keep up to date.
The river reports are second to none and having guys close to the river willingly updating all on current conditions is priceless -...

I'm a Yorkshire man and even with that sort of heritage I cannot claim anywhere near as many - mind you 7 barbel would mean at least 7 sessions.
Andreas - try the superglue gel you might find it a little easier though as Robin says just glue straight on the hair before you fish.

A thread often raised but nonetheless a nice one to muse over, for me Chris Yates has the gift of writing fishing stories as if you had experienced the adventure yourself, there are always elements that you can identify with personally. Graham The Deepening Pool is one of my favourites...
If a rod licence entitles me to fish legally then possessing one is a no brainer.
The cost for all of us to remain within the law is the same but real value to us as anglers depends how often you fish - I reckon in value for money terms it costs me less than a bag of crisps for every day I...
Would recommend Garnier/Ambre Solaire - Clear Protect SPF 20 - non greasy. Wear a long sleeved shirt and a floppy hat! - I've survived the hottest of days and not been roasted either by the sun or my Missus!
I am conscious of the potential for tainting the bait but I would go along with Paul's...
I got one of these - just the job, light as a feather and comfy:

Don't forget where you put it though - damn camo stuff! :) Les
Copied and edited from Fish-in thread.
Hats of to Mark and Mick - quite a result in the conditions. My optimism remained until just after dusk and as the temperature plummeted so did my resolve.
Great day - enjoyed it very much and great to put a few faces to names.
Well done to Graham and...
