This was on the SBS facebook page recently:
Just had a call from Des Taylor and SBS has been sold to someone in Hungary. I think they want to do the social networking themselves, so just wanted to say thanks to everyone for your contributions and posts. Take care and tight lines :) Stewart...
Have a look at this thread from last month.
I used Pete's Parcel Link above. Cost about a tenner I think to send a rod via TNT.
I can't advise on rod tubes. I've bought a couple of rods in the past from online retailers and kept the tubes they came in.
This summer, I bought a second-hand JRC Cocoon Excel Chair for my static sessions, and I've been delighted with it.
Although it's quite bulky, it's very light for it's size at 5.6kg, and it seems well built. The main thing for me, as someone with a dodgy back, is that its very comfortable...
Mine failed after over-tightening. It damaged the plastic thread in the grommet so it didn't tighten onto the metal screw easily enough. This meant the resistance on the thread was greater than the resistance on the outside of the grommet which in turn meant it wouldn't tighten ... if you see...
I've had the usual problems with my Drennan ... but I still love it, it's one of those items of tackle I just really enjoy using, and wouldn't consider anything else until I find something as good (I haven't). I hated my Powerstretch, it weighed a ton! I just wasn't strong enough to hold the...
That's an interesting point. Several barbel anglers were surprised that when I caught an out-of-season salmon (on a pellet!) I didn't kill it and take it home. Apart from that being illegal, Salmon are rarer and their lifecycle more fragile than barbel, yet it is somehow acceptable to kill...
I'm expecting to be out on the Severn on Thursday and Friday evenings (and maybe again over the weekend), so we'll see what effect the cold weather has. I blanked on friday:(, but just about everyone else (except Deano;)) caught well, despite the clear skies, bright moon and plunging air...
No remote listed in the spec. There is a timer but not the multi-shot timer of the Canon cameras. The timer can be set for 2 secs or 10 secs, and a setting called "double" which I presume means it takes twice. Better than nothing but a deal breaker for me. A shame as with a multi-shot timer...
I have the ordinary Tays and went for a size up as my normal size seemed a little tight. But I find them a bit too loose when walking so I may have been better off with the smaller pair. Although it won't be as bad in the cold weather as I have some very thick socks.
I have some Ron Thompson neoprene gloves, but I really don't like them. They are very stiff, and rather tight to pull on, and the materials used aren't very soft. Also, I don't think they are breathable so if your hands are damp when you put the gloves back on, they stay damp.
I've been looking...
Steve, do you mean you can see Andrew Boyne's pictures (post #11)? Strange that some of can see them and others can't. I can't see anything wrong with the IMG links in his post, the pics just don't show. I've tried it in Chrome and IE, and at home and at work. All the other pics on the page are...
I won some Teme-Severn Lamprey and Liver Dumbells at the BFW fish-in in July. I tried them on the Wye, alternating between them and Salmon Elips pellets (aka Salips?). I had 10 barbel during an evening session, catching on both baits, but bites came significantly quicker on the Teme Severn bait...
