    Grayling

The fellas I saw were stood in the river just downstream of the wires for the measuring station. I really hope they had waders on!

Recommendations for a 15ft Speci Float Rod Please?

Quoting a certain Richard Norris, former MD at Drennan - "The Drennan Stick (1987 onwards) and Super Stick (roughly 1991 on) never had spliced tips nor especially soft hollow tips or fast actions anyway. Made very good waggler rods though. The spliced tipped Team England Action Tip was very...

Recommendations for a 15ft Speci Float Rod Please?

I puzzled, has anyone actually seen/heard of an Acolyte Specimen breakage in normal use? I've seen plenty of information about broken Acolyte Ultras and Acolyte Pluses, but the majority of the gossip stemmed from a year or two after their initial release. They've been on the market for a...

Korum waist trotting tray, Is this a good or dumb idea?

How's this for a resurrection? Look what I found when looking for something else. Clicky.

    Proposed New Public Bathing Sites

I doubt that many anglers would be affected if the Falls at Richmond became a designated bathing spot. The constant footfall down there makes it a largely unfished spot anyway. The only real shame is that it's upstream of the bigger water treatment plants on the river.

    Thigh waders

I've been using some Skellerup thigh waders for a couple of years now. In a fairly limited field, they are another, cheaper, option.

    Rod bags (cloth)

I can second the recommendation. I bought a couple for awkward sized rods. Not cheap, but they are very good.

    Anyone mad enough?

I've only been fishing three times this year. You can add another four times from Christmas Eve to New Years Eve. It may well have been more if I hadn't been herding posh chickens six times in the same period.

    Freezing ice on line

Yes, and an additional modern source is from vape shops! Nowhere seems short of those!

    Freezing ice on line

I used glycerine applied to the mainline and line guides yesterday. Despite it being like fishing a flowing slush puppy, I had no issues with guides freezing up or line sticking. Getting to the water safely with a substantial fringe of 3" thick ice was another matter entirely.

    SOLD.

When listed on the Cotswold website, the spec weight was given as 240g.

What is it with match anglers and fish care … 😡

I remember a time when some matches would not allow foul hooked fish to be weighed in. However, it usually relied on the honesty of the individual angler. It should be a big surprise that it was regularly ignored. With the rise of commie match angling, any hint of foul hooked fish being...

    Roving waders

I won't risk my breathable waders when there are brambles, gorse, blackthorn and hawthorn about. Most of the time I use Skellerup safety waders. I find that the stiffened underfoot shanks reduce achy feet when walking/wading on rocky riverbeds. The steel toecap also helps to reduce the numbing...

    Harrisons GTI 15ft mk2 SU.

Does anyone know what the full range of Mk 2 GTi rods consists of yet? I think I'd be more interested in a 13' Spliced Tip, but I've a feeling that they might not be an option.

    Browning 13.6 river rod

Shame it wasn't collection only. That might have depressed the final price and it's only about 15 miles away. I really don't need another spare though.

    New daiwa connoisseur rod

I used to try avoid EVA handles due to an early 80s experience with terrible Duplon handles. Despite believing that the Browning Sphere (float rod) blanks were something special, I prevaricated over buying one for some time due to the brand and the EVA handle. Unfortunately, once I'd bought one...

    What 15ft rod for grayling

The Acolyte Ultra is powerful enough for run of the mill grayling. Its softness may even allow fewer fish to be lost. However, if you are regularly expecting 2lb+ fish, you're probably better served with an Acolyte Plus. If you are fishing for big grayling in heavier flows, the Acolyte Specimen...

    What 15ft rod for grayling

With the demise of Bobco, most recent rods are passing me by without me ever seeing them. The only older 15'er that I could suggest is the Maver Signature Pro. I doubt one would be any easier to find than a 15'6" Sphere, though it is likely to be a lot cheaper.

    What 15ft rod for grayling

The obvious answers would be 15' Acolyte Plus/Specimen or a 15' 6" Sphere. The biggest problem would be sourcing the latter.

    Spare Spool

It's an original GTE spool. GTE-B and GTE-C spools were all alloy rather than carbon composite with a metal lip. Should still fit the more recent B and C variants.
