Hiya Neil,
Out of interest, do you remember the river colour and / or light values at the time - clear / coloured.... sunny / cloudy / night time ?
Cheers
Hi Albert,
That's interesting. A few years ago I had success using a very similar tactic, only it was a single 8mm halibut pellet glued to the hair via a trimmed down piece of cork.
Your case especially, definitely highlights that what is nondescript to us may be very easily found by barbel.
On middle severn I reckon the least faff to snag up the better. I'd go with a longer hooklength, but I understand long HL's are getting quite popular...
All hardbacks unless otherwise stated. Any damage detailed where appropriate. If you would like photos of damage, please PM me the book/s you are interested in and your email address and I will take some snaps and send them through.

Found this discussion while searching for something else, thought it would interest some folk here. Some gems from posters 'serenity' and 'milkprotein':

> you sound like you had it bad.... I subscribe to the reasoning that less energy expended vs maxmum benefit
One thing that niggles me and that I would love to explore is this. When conditions are good, barbel seem to be caught on a variety of baits - they seem to me to be behaving in an...
To be perfectly honest, I don't know and I'm not likely to ever wish to find out. I mucked around with emulsifiers a bit in the garage but never got as far as the bankside.
Sorry!
I gave up my bait habit and am determined not to relapse. I think that it's all too easy to get sucked into the...
Yes, EA based flavour disperses better than oil based.
Maybe it's better in flowing water to think about a quick / easily dispersing liquid attractor, combined with a slower, longer acting powdered attractor. Such as cheese powder, GLM, robin red etc. etc.
Hi Howard,
I'm not sure how relevant my opinion is these days, but here is my opinion:
The goal is to give them something they are keen on, where they are able to find it, when they are likely to eat it. I can't think how the boilie 'type' or 'flavour' would impact that, at least not in the...
I don't think you would gain anything by using baby milk, which vitamealo or lamlac or similar wouldn't give you, at probably half the price. :)
No, I thought of something, baby milk is easier to purchase as you can get if from supermarket etc. That's the only benefit I can think of.
I can't see it causing an issue unless your hookbait is also very critically balanced and the flow is very sedate.
But if you need some extra confidence, pull a section of braid through some putty and repeat the test. I reckon that would stop the problem.
