I seem to be referencing books every time I post on here these days. Anyhow, in Nature of Barbel, there is mention of barbel turning up in salmon nets after big floods in the 70's, in the estuary if I remember correctly.
Makes you wonder what they get up to during big floods doesn't...
Fished the pond yesterday afternoon, had a couple in the 1- 2lb region, and lost a much better fish (own fault), dammit! Can't fish the pond for a fortnight now...
I dont get what the legs have to do with it, but agree that pellet waggler rods are great for perch and roach light ish legering. Wouldnt use mine with a livebait though.
I have shakespeare mach 3 11ft pellet waggler if its of interest, you should be able to pick them up around 40-50quid on...
Robert, do a search for Bob Roberts perch articles, he does a bit of perch fishing up that way. I only mention it because I vaguely remember him mentioning lure fishing at some point. I Might be wrong though.
You're not alone Paul (Thomas). There's plenty of perch around my waters but hard to track down and / or single out the good (2lb+) fish. Good fun though eh.
Depends how you look at it Neil. The supplemental food supply extra anglers bring might just persuade them to stay AND encourage more fish.
I've seen evidence in repeat captures on a large river, a river where fish could swim a few hundred yards and never see another angler again, that night...
