Seal having breakfast in Thames at Staines.

Bump! (Instead of a new thread) If there's a seal about (which there is) does this effect the fishing? Seems like a sligjtly stupid question to ask but I was gonna fish Bell Weir this week but now been told the Seal is back having a nice time swimming around. How does it affect their (barbel)...

    Bait again!!!

Funny you ask because I heard recently that a very big barbel was caught on a pineapple boilie from the Thames, also had a 30+ carp (which I presume was the target species) Sure I have read stuff before in the past (maybe on here) about barbel liking pineapple.

    Cows

Had the same thing happen to me when I was about 15. Me and my mates walking through a field of cows when all of sudden they decided they didn't want us in their field. Their bad mood was pretty scary and they even started bucking at times. Always the least athletic of my mates, and the...

    Terry Eustace passed away.

Always bought his fishing line in 6lb and 8lb, was the best stuff I ever used (back before the internet)

    Feeder fishing a deep weir?

I fished the weir yesterday for six hours during daylight. Decided just to keep things very simple and straight forward. 4oz gripper lead, 4 bait stringer and hook bait wrapped in ccmoore liver paste, bait was heavily glugged 20mm bloodworm boilies. Recast every hour. Did not catch but I was...

    Feeder fishing a deep weir?

Thanks. Yeah I think the straight lead and stringer approach is the way to go. Simple and easy. Lobbing feeders around in an area that I don't know could prove expensive and as Mr Marsden says work in a negative way (spreading bait all around the area). Thanks for your help 🤝

    Feeder fishing a deep weir?

Actually it's pretty amusing, the more I think about it, the more I realise that perhaps I'm not as well prepared as I thought. It's dawned on me that I will have to dust off a old (but decent) Shimano 2 1/4 TC carp rod as I doubt my Greys X Flite 2lb TC will be up for the job. Also I'm thinking...

    Feeder fishing a deep weir?

I will ask him about snags. He didn't elude to any to be honest. My first visit is really a pleasure session and a learning curve so I'm not putting myself under any pressure apart from enjoying myself and seeing what happens. Thanks for all your help.

    Feeder fishing a deep weir?

Yeah, I think tiny maggots may got lost in the the deep water. Whereas stinky 8mm pellets would be the better option. With a 14mm pellet on the hair.

    Feeder fishing a deep weir?

Evening folks, long time lurker and here's my first post! Genuine question that I have zero idea about so need some help. I've been lucky enough to get invited to fish a weir pool on a big river by the lock keeper. Though he has no interest in fishing he obviously knows the geography of the...
