    BRPS

Good day chaps I use to fish Bath Road Piscatorials about 25+ years ago and was pretty good. Was just wondering if it's still ok. It seems that a flood relief scheme has been dug there in the years since. Any intel would be appreciated. PM if you are a secret squirrel 🐿️ 🙂

A good all round Thames feeder rod (but not for barbel)

Ok. I will PM you tomorrow Mr Elliot 👍

A good all round Thames feeder rod (but not for barbel)

Yeah the Powermesh were awesome rods. Have no idea why they discontinued them. I have the dropshot PM, a pike lure PM, and a very old barbel PM, one of the originals but I lost the quivertip and just have the 1.5lb Avon top. Frustrating!

The best thing you’ve seen whilst fishing

I love Kingfishers. They are perhaps my favourite animal I see. My local Thames the Kingfishers are everywhere, at the moment they are really doing well. If I see one and I blank I don't mind.

A good all round Thames feeder rod (but not for barbel)

Recommendations please. Mainly chub I target in winter on link ledgered cheese paste/lobworm but I want something that will also do just general maggot feeder fishing for any species. My 11ft Drennan Twintip Avon is a great rod but once winter comes I need something about 12 ft. I don't mind...

The best thing you’ve seen whilst fishing

I was struggling to think of anything but your story triggered an old memory of barramundi fishing in the Northern Territory and seeing quite a few salt water crocs. One might think how I could forget about that but it was nearly 25 years ago and I don't think about the past much.

Fishing over big stones, gravel and god knows what!

Hello Barbel Experts I did something today that I've been promising myself I would do for the last couple of seasons and that's walk a stretch of my local Thames with a heavy, knobbly lead and braid and go looking for gravel spots. it was the usual situation in every swim. Patches of gravel...

    Head torches

Something I also think about. Probably depends on the venue. Doubt it has much effect on the Thames but I always use the lowest setting I can get away with the job at hand.

    New John Baker video

Can testify that shelf life paste is cack. I bought some Sticky bloodworm a few weeks ago and it's just worthy of the bin, so that's where it went. Best paste to buy is Ccmoores frozen paste blocks, that tip top stuff. Funny story, I actually bought some John Bakers base mix and flavours and...

    OMC Revibed Imitation Worms

From 11.40, though the whole thing is worth watching tbh.

    OMC Revibed Imitation Worms

Thanks for all your replies. I might get a pack and give them a whirl. I don't have the room for a wormery so I just buy what I need from Angling Direct. So can be pricey but it is what it is. Theres a video of The Ginger Fisherman catching a nice 7lb barbel on a bunch of worms fished on (I...

    OMC Revibed Imitation Worms

Anyone had a look at these? Obviously Mr Whiskers loves a worm, but as the barbel I fish for are generally nocturnal feeders, during the day I'm a big fan of dropshotting with worms. I've had double figure pike (lucky to land) and my biggest chub of 6.8lb came to dropshotting lobs. I have no...

Finding motivation for night fishing in tricky conditions.

Yep I'm an early morning person. I get up at 5am for work for the last 20 years. All my energy and concentration has always been around morning time and early afternoon and I've always been like that. I'm sure this is another big factor in that by 6pm my body is naturally winding down and my...

Finding motivation for night fishing in tricky conditions.

I guess that's it really. Though I'm absolutely fine being outdoors in a bit of wind, a bit of a chill and some drizzle (I won't do heavy rain because I travel light as I can and never take a umbrella), and I'm absolutely fine being sat by myself in the dark by the side of a river. As we start...

    New Drennan Barbel Rods

Shame Daiwa don't do the Powermesh ones anymore. On offer, they were a affordable but decent rod.

    New Drennan Barbel Rods

Yeah I was thinking the Drennan ones would be a bit more snazzier than the Korums but perhaps not. I'm quite a fan of Drennan rods but these new ones don't seem to of set the world alight. As you say just a bit 'ok'

    New Drennan Barbel Rods

Bit of a bump. What are folks opinions of these? I actually don't like buying new rods (honest!) but I can't avoid the fact I will need to buy something to deal with the Thames in winter and casting heavy loads. Was thinking that the heavy version of this rod will do the trick, as I also don't...

    Finally!!! Something half decent

Catching a barbel like that on a float rod and during the day is mind-blowing (I fish the Thames, I shall say no more!). I'm not sure if there's anything greater than that tbh. Awesome skills.

Seal having breakfast in Thames at Staines.

Haven't been that way for donkeys years (use to go down by The Spade Oak) not sure who controls it nowadays?

Seal having breakfast in Thames at Staines.

Kind of make sense to me. If something was roaming around with me on the menu I'd disappear asap. Might do a perch trip upstream towards Dorney.
