You might be using too high a diameter line for your slider knot? I slider fish a lot and I have made the same mistake. Also adding a micro bead, between slider knot and the float, can help quite a lot.....

Snugpak SJ9 jacket, snugpak salopettes. Guru joggers and Guru top, seeland fleece top. Army lightweight mtp goretex over the salopettes, just to keep clean. Don't forget your feet though...
