The weather there can be brutal. You’re beaten by the wind, scorched by the sun and then you can be frozen All in the space of 24 Hrs. I remember one trip I couldn’t use my fingers for about two weeks afterwards!
it’s Mother Nature in charge out there and it’s absolutely brilliant.
Yes it’s great out there isn’t it. The film captures some of the beauty of watching the sun rise over the mountains and it’s beautiful there.
I’ve known Sam for twenty five years (Jesus..) and we spent two weeks fishing from a tiny island out there on Bin El Oidane plus a couple of other trips...
This country is an absolute disaster. Led by the worst people at the worst possible time. Who allows sewage to be flushed into rivers under permit or no permit?! Fix the supply issue not permit the problem..
Jump in a small inflatable boat with a sonar and go up and down. Find some interesting spots (or not!) then lead about to see what the bottom is like.
Expensive and time consuming yes, but it’s also fun and accurate. Appreciate not all stretches allow boats so I’d be using a deeper pro thing...
I’m afraid you cursed yourself Richard. Unlucky.
ESP Curve shanks have been the best hooks I’ve been using for a while. Very sharp and if you tie them knot less knot with the KD style hair kicked out they turn when picked up. So no need for line aligner gubbins
I’ve ordered some of the 2.5 dark carbons from Mark Tunley. They’re like the torrix but without the weave on the lower section so they bend through a bit more as they’re less stiff there.
I’m currently fishing the Thames where my iPowers with the 2lb tip aren’t quite up to it.
So I’m using 3lb...
I caught my first barbel over 30 years ago on the Stour sight fishing and freelining. Switched over to the Avon later that week where there was a guy using a bolt rig, Dacron hook length with size 4 hooks, boilies and alarms back then.
The numbers of people fishing this way has increased...
On the topic of using bite alarms. I made my first bite alarm as an electoronicw project when I was 14 at school and unless you’re holding a rod I’d always use them. You can look at the world around you and that’s 50% of why I go out and sit by a river.
It is true they allow you to continue to...
I’ve moved from the Loddon where I used to fish with a bedchair, two rods and a brolly to the Thames where I fish with a bedchair, two rods and a brolly.
If I lived locally then I would turn up at 8pm and use one rod, sit on a chair and head home to a nice warm bed at 1am. But I live miles...
For the power pro super 8 slick It’s quite difficult to track any down online - most places are out of stock. ‘Lurecandy’ has some on eBay from Singapore.
Is the aqua green too garish and is the brown colour the one to go for?
cheers
