A letter to my Tory MP, I'd encourage you to do the same

To resolve all the issues will take BILLIONS and a considerable amount of time. Only by taxation will this amount of money be raised. Will the ‘ general public ‘ sanction this. I very much doubt it. They will support it ‘in theory’ but no further I’m afraid. G.T.

Water Company Dividends up £540m from last year...

I am all for a plan but not one without any predicted costs ( though I accept these always ‘go through the roof’ ) or no example worldwide where this system actually works. After COVID my belief in the validity of ‘professors’ credentials took a downward hit I’m afraid when it soon became...

Water Company Dividends up £540m from last year...

It’s not ‘new’ is it….. In 1908 the the New Scientist offered an ‘ illustrated guide to Britains unspeakable beaches’. Sorry for the history lesson guys but I am learning more every day and what is glaring obvious is that this is all about money ( of course) and that the bottom line is really...

Water Company Dividends up £540m from last year...

And here’s the thing……Scottish Water is a nationalised industry and it’s water quality is hardly monitored which is apparently the same in France and Spain ( who are Nationalised industries also ). Labour have apparently said that they have no plans to nationalise water or energy companies...

    3rb bait

You are right Bill. My daft old bint fills ours up with food! You couldn’t make it up…..😉 G.T.

    River Lugg destruction court decision.

Listening to Kier this morning he wouldn’t even promise to pay nurses more if he was in government so maybe not the most convincing advocate on anything…..

    River Lugg destruction court decision.

It is time taxpayers were given the opportunity to fund our water companies properly. They need to pay the hundreds ( or thousands ) more a year to bring the Sewerage system out of the Victorian age. If this sector is nationalised ( and I’m not against this ) it will require the same massive...

    River Lugg destruction court decision.

An ecological vandal with no respect for the law. He should have been made to serve the full 12 months of his sentence. Hopefully this is just the start of a new approach to ALL individuals and organisations who ride roughshod through our Countryside . Regards, G.T.

    Very disappointing

Unfortunately an idiot is still an idiot whether he goes fishing or not. Eventually someone from the council will ban fishing there and these ‘characters’ will disperse to other venues and ruin them. This is another reason that anglers tend to be a little secretive about where they are catching...

    Feel angry, sad and frustrated

The problem here is that you SHOULD be right regarding privatisation. In practice, ‘ old ‘un’s’ like me can actually remember how inefficient the old nationalised businesses were. I only have to remember the railways ,who many now think should go back to being nationalised, they were just a...

    Feel angry, sad and frustrated

The problem here is that the public will support clean rivers but will balk at actually paying more money to build the the proper resources to do it. Making the company CEO’s responsible is the only way forward that I can see and I don’t see much appetite for that. At least the media are talking...

    Reels

I am absolutely sure that if I was to have a determined ‘rummage’ in my loft then I would find rods and reels that I have never used and ( worse ) that I have long forgotten I have. This tells me that I actually don’t need any more ( yet🤪🤦‍♂️ ). G.T.

    Rolling fish question

Warwickshire Avon again….fishing a new area with the river 2 feet up and coloured. I was ‘swim hopping’, giving each swim a couple of hours and then moving if nothing happened…..just as I was preparing to move a large Barbel porpoised right under my rod top……I bought my bait closer in to just...

Sorry to report the last known Sturgeon has now disappeared from Scotland. Very sad. G.T.

    river reports

Personally I have never seen a report of any ’named pegs’ on here. Most people simply suggest if a particular river is fishing ‘well ‘ or not. This may also contain comments on the levels and temperature of that river and may save a member a long wasted drive. I think , by and large, we have got...

    river reports

Impossible to ‘overfeed ‘ the lower Severn ( for example) I would have thought, even in its heyday. I used to fish a stretch in the 90’s that was deserted but plenty of Barbel were there, it did not need our bait to prosper. The fish simply aren’t there in the numbers they were. G.T.

    river reports

Hi Guys, As I have mentioned so many times before, I witnessed the Teme change from a Barbel aquarium ( fish everywhere) to a Barbel desert. This happened quite quickly over a handful of years. I can’t get out as often as I would like so can’t comment accurately now. People have always been...

    Big appetite

Big appetite? I once saw a heron trying to swallow a fully grown ( dead) Moorhen. It was struggling a bit but seemed hell bent on getting it down.🫣 G.T.
